Pot-Bellied Pet Pigs: Mini-Pig Care And Training

This is a very useful book for those interested in pet pis or families with pigs. It is a good guide that begins from the start. Some things have changed, like the rarity of pet pigs from when first written, but still good. The fact that a vet wrote it is even better !

I got a pot-belly pig and realized I didn't know as much as I thought. So I bought this book because it seemed to be informative. First of all, I am an author, and I did find the editing and formatting a bit lacking. I wished there was a better section on discipline, my piglet is darn pig-headed. And you can't discipline a pig like you would a dog or cat. The author was right, they are very smart and learn quickly- either good things or bad things. The vet info was good, I decided to have my pig neutered after reading about how smelly boars can be. Some info was lacking, a pig does not recover from anesthesia like other animals. Their body temperature can go erratic and they begin to shiver. Having that information would have saved my poor piggy from a few hours of cold. Fortunately he recovered well after I piled towels on him and got a heater running.Overall, I'd say it's a good beginning book. Should the author choose to revise and add more, I think it would be an excellent book for its genre.

I did not realize it was an old edition, I would have purchased a more recent version

I have 2 pot bellied pigs and really needed some direction since they react so differently then dogs. Great book.

I was looking for a book to help me take care of my pot belly pigs. This book told me the history of the pb pigs and a lot of information like that but it did not tell me things like how to trim their hooves.

Good book for the beginner. Pigs are another whole world.(Must have more words to complete the block but can't think of any...darn it)

Gift for grandson who has two mini pigs he found the book very informative.

The book is good but I was a little disappointed in the condition of the book. I would have thought "very good" means that it looks close to brand new! That was not the case. It wasn't ripped but was stained and it was quite apparent it had been sitting in some dirty barn for a while!
