A Satisfying close to the DOOM Series
The last book in the series was, unfortunately, this reader’s least favorite, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t a real gem. The reality of the series ending was saddening and expectations tend to be very high as a story culminates to its final chapters. Regardless, every series must conclude and writers must reveal the ultimate purpose for their character’s life. And for Fly and Arlene, it is only to be cursed by the fate of one of the two literary schools of galactic criticism, which debate the being of the architects of the Gates. If you haven’t read books one and two in the series, they are a must read. If you have read book three, then, please, by all means finish the series and judge for yourself.Book three, Infernal Sky, left our diehard protagonists, Fly and Arlene, and their new binary friends, Sears and Roebuck, on an alien ship headed to the Freds’ home world. The conclusion of book three was intense and fun! And thankfully book four continued that excited in the first few chapters. At the risk of spoilers, I will keep my descriptions brief and highlight, as I did for book three, the best aspects of Endgame.Doom is brain-candy. By this, I mean that so many fun ideas concerning space travel, alien races, and the origins of life are explored and debated by our beloved characters, leaving the reader to join in on the conversation as the plot progresses. One of the best brain-candies is the impact of losing "religion," or faith. Its consequence is devastating, and the reasons are perplexing, yet simple: death’s finality scares men, all men. In one scene, robust men cower when a rebel dinner knife flings accidentally into the air during a prestigious meal between "newbie-infected humans" and Fly and Arlene. One spoiler: Becoming a "type of prophet" by necessity, Fly uses the weapon of “faith in a leader” to raise an army! The consequences are too interesting to be summarized… come on, you know you want to read this one, now!Back to the critique…What remains of Earth is for the reader to cope with since Fly and Arlene discover something about the galactic war and the state of advanced technology that exists now in the universe. Fortunately, an ending that no one could expect is delivered. thankfully, it does deliver our two protagonist back into the fray that readers of book one, Knee-Deep in the Dead, will savor and take away either the best and/or saddest aspects of the series’ epic finale.

Series that starts well, comes to a misersable conclusion
What a mess. The battle we were building to, resolved worse than the end of Stephen King's The Stand. The multiple POV's are inconsistent, the enemy neither scary, nor compelling, and a resolution so uninspiring that the book taints the entire seriesA mess was made and it leaves you on a VR hamster wheel. This is the book to read if you need to convince yourself you too can become published.

Is there even Doom in this?
Near the end of the third book Infernal Skies and into this book, the atmosphere for Doom disappeared more and more and therefore I was confused if I was even reading a Doom themed book to begin with as the entire space travel motif starting at the 2\3 point in Hell on Earth had it change a lot.I didn't even finish the book (about 3\4 as of this post) because it didn't feel like Doom was in it with all the wacky stuff going on from this book and the latter half of Infernal Skies.Cautiously recommended only if you want the complete novel quadralogy.

wack lame attack
Man what a let down. Number 1 awesome, number 2 right on track, still waiting for number 3 in the mail, but number 4 was a complete let down after 1 and 2. Same thing happened with the hitchhikers guiden to the galaxy, their publisher must have been demanding a book so they just squirted one out...

Confused
Better than books 2 and 3, but still unclear what the box with the Orange eye was about. So confused

An intriguing but mildly disappointing final entry.
There's not a whole lot to say about this one. There's plenty of inconsistent information and lots of frankly ridiculous story pieces and concepts. Saying that, I did enjoy reading it more than the third book and the ending could have been worse. If you got this far into the series, you might as well finish it.

It's a great conclusion to the series (according to the 98% of the book I read). Unfortunately, I didn't finish it, because 10 pages from the end, I dropped it behind my corner desk which doesn't provide access to the place it fell to. I'll finish it one day when I fish it out of there...
