Music Microphone Mic Stand Tripod Mount Adapter with Locking Swivel Ball Head (5/8'' - 27 to 1/4'' - 20) for Gopro, Digital Camera and Video Recorder

Maybe it was my use-case—I attached it to the end of a swing-arm on my desk for my condenser mic, to swing in front of me for Zooms and such, so I imagine I was causing the forces on it to change frequently. While it seemed to work well at first, eventually the screw seriously struggled to keep the ball joint fixed, and repeatedly re-tightening it eventually caused the thick plastic washer on the end of the mounting screw to actually break apart and fall off entirely. After that it was functionally useless, and incapable of holding the weight of my mic up. (I note when I finally removed it, it appeared to still be perfectly capable of holding an empty shock mount in position.)

It wobbled a bit when installed on a mic stand and I noticed a little inset screw on one side, opposite from the big silver/black screw which tightens the ball mount. I assumed tightening the little inset screw would eliminate the wobble. But when I tightened that little screw it went all the way into the body and was useless. I disassembled, took out that little screw, and tried a couple more times with same result. So I installed my own set screw, which is larger & sticks out the side but it works, no wobble - important for camera mounting, of course.

There are too many rings on this that can spin around...the mic adapter, the locking ring and the ring that attaches to the camera with the 1/4" screw. It's difficult to spin the black 1/4" ring to screw in to the camera because it travels up and down the 1/4" screw. So getting a tight fit is odd. If you're using a larger or DSLR type camera, beware it could fall over quickly trying to make adjustments.

I like the simplicity of the product and it was exactly what we needed in order to reduce the visual presence of the Mevo camera. Previously, we were using a traditional camera tripod, Now, we have switched to a microphone stand, the part that is visible is very narrow and less intrusive for observers.

A very simple product, but seems very solid and sturdy and mounts my GoPro with no problems.

Constructed well and works well. The ball joint should move more smoothly.

The only thing that would be nice if the bottom screw for the camera is thicker/bigger so it's much easier to tighten.. it comes with a gopro mount too which is really nice.. please make the camera screw thicker & bigger for easy gripping!
