Great, cute!
I bought this as a cute novelty clock for my dorm room. It's lightweight, so I could hang it with a Command hook, and it looks so cute. I wouldn't recommend it for anyone looking for a real cuckoo clock, but as a cute novelty toy it's perfect. You can turn off the cuckoo by removing two of the three C batteries, which I did instantly. The noise is really very obnoxious, but I didn't buy it for the cuckoo sound. Overall, a great clock.

Cute and complete junk
This is cute, but not worth $30.00+. It was falling apart, the bird seldom chirped and the sound was annoying and corrupted. It is super cheap looking. I meant to use it in an out of the way fairly dark corner of the house but it's so bad that even my unobservant could care less about home decor husband commented on how bad it looked and sounded. I knew it would not be great but figured it would work for that area of the house, I was wrong. I considered giving it to my toddler she loved the bird but Amazon makes returns painless and simple so I sent it back. This maybe suitable for a child who wants a Cuckoo clock for their room...assuming you both understand it wont last and is really worth about 10-20 bucks tops.

Very Pleased
I don't regret this purchase at all..actually I am extremely pleased..the clock is beautiful...the only draw back I have about it is the cuckoo's sound...hunni chile the water running on the recording is not the business...when all I need is for Ms. Girl to cuckoo chile!...but I can live with that..its not that bad when you get used to it...but at first I thought a train had run into my apartment..she comes out of the door and carrys on for filth!!...I love this clock! I do recommend it!...I didn't care for the fact that it arrived in its retail box with a shipping label on it...really?...no really? *rolling both of my eyes*...all in all..she's a wicked ole clock hunni....just wicked....love her!

Good but has lots of background noises
First of all, it is easy to setup. The instruction may not be clear but legible.Just need to know the cuckoo only does 6am to 9pm and setting it up is easy. But remember to let it finish cucking during setup as stated in the instruction. The build quality is plastic but it looks good on the wall and not so noticeable as plastic due to it's color. The clock face is a bit small compared to having used to looking at 40cm clock. As most buyers stated, the cuckoo recording has a lot of background noises. It's trying to imitate the cuckoo in a natural environment with those forest noises but failed. The cuckoo echoes and a six o'clock cuckoo 12 times. The echoes comes with a softer cuckoo but to a first timer, it sounds as if it got the wrong time.It uses 3 C-batteries, 2 for Cuckoo and 1 for clock so if one is finding cuckoo's too annoying, removing the 2Cs batteries can disable the cuckoo.PRO: Cheap, fun, Cuckoo's wing flaps and beak moves when cuckooingCON: background noise, and echo from Cuckoo

If you just want a cheap clock that a bird pops out of, this does it.
The "cuckoo" sound is, well, garbage, here's a low quality video of this low quality clock: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wnDy_AqIFEoIt's also made out of plastic, everything that *can* be plastic, is. It's quite heavy when the batteries are in it, it's going to shatter into a million pieces if it ever falls on to my kitchen floor. If you want something for the kids, they will probably love it. If it's for you, you need to treat yourself better. Even the hands are plastic. I imagine this will eventually just disintegrate if it gets any sunlight at all. It's probably BPA plastic so try not to handle it too much.Protip: To set the cuckoo, set your alarm clock for 5:45AM, wait until 6, set the time on the cuckoo clock, press the black button, then the red button. you'll hear the bird call "6" times (there's an 'echo' after each call, which i think really adds to the "radio tuned to static" atmosphere the clock adds to my home.) then, clip the crappy plastic "pendulum" - which swings via the mystifying power of electro-magentism - and hang it on the wall. This clock also features a couple of plastic pinecones that hang from the clock on plastic chains, to give it a more authentic, cargo-cult look that is only found in the VERY FINEST landfill merchandise.I didn't expect much, but I did expect a more traditional bird call (without the white noise.) I'm going to try to take it apart and hack in my own bird sound while I save up for the real clock I wish I would have bought to begin with.

Looks good... from a distance
My 82-year-young grandmother wanted a "token gift" for her three kids. Her grandmother used to have a real cuckoo clock 50+ years ago, and my grandmother wanted something that looked similar. This close has the look of wood, but when held and examined it's obviously not (and not that the description claims it is).The bigger problem I had is the sound of the cuckoo when it "chimes." It is very mechanical, and sounds almost like a cassette tape recording. We turned the volume down, and it tone does sound better when the clock is hanging on the wall. But, it's far from a "real" cuckoo sound. Some complaints about the setting of the hours - it is a challenge, but it is doable. It's a nice, simple, inexpensive show piece... but if your recipient would appreciate the "real thing," then I would consider something else.

whattaya want for $25, anyway?
I think the thing is great for the price. Out of the box i had ti press the little hand back up to noon but that was the only thing amiss. It keeps time just fine and works. Makes me laugh whenever i am mid conversation and the ridiculous cuckoo goes off. I love kitch-y stuff like this. Yes, its really just a toy, but if you are expecting something grand for this price you need to have your head examined. Additionally, amazon decided to give me amazon prime for free so i got it the next day. Outstanding! Amazon, i have been using you for, what, 13 years now, and you just keep getting better. Bravo!
