Good backpacking tenkara rod
Pretty good little tenkara rod for backpacking. I've used it for about 3 months now, and it has held up pretty well. Personally, I prefer using furled line instead of the included duraleader, but every angler is different. So far I've caught browns, brookies, and some large mouth bass on it. I look forward to taking it bike packing in the spring!

First tankara but I’m loving it
So far I’m having a blast with it. Simple, fun, a little limiting but honestly worth it.

Buyer beware: Stiff Action.
great rod, compact and light... but the action is too stiff to use 3.5 level line... you are better off using a tapered leader but the presentation is not very good... also lost my cap... unable to contact backcountry for a new one..

Not as durable as you would Think
I broke the tip segment within a few hours of fishing it is not very durable and really flimsy. I have jury-rigged a way to get it to work with some fly line backing and that has been working well. The floating line they sell/comes with this rod is extremely cheap and the plastic coating broke off in several parts after the first use. It also doesn't work super well and some times I have to rub flotant on the line to get it to float. Your better off getting your own line. That said I have caught over a hundred fish on my rod and it is always in my running pack for some alpine trout catching. Overall the rod is nice and light and will catch fish but because it is so light its fragile.

The perfect setup for back country adventures
This is a good quality setup. It was also one of the most compact setups available that was still of a good quality. It stays in my hiking bag or on the back of my dr650

Great rod for the sale price.
Good for the price. My first tenkara rod. I got it on sale for 75 dollars and bought a extra tip for about10 bucks. I had fun with it but I wouldn't pay too much more than the sale price because there are higher quality rods out there for $150 from Tenkara USA. But spare parts are avaliable and shipping was fast direct from wet fly. Ordered on Friday got Monday morning. I can't speak for casting performance because I don't have anything to compare it too but I did try the diameter florocarbon of 3.5 level line and it seemed to cast pretty good. I didn't like the tapered floating leaders that wetfly sells. I just got real 3.0 3.5 4.0 level line so I have all the bases covered.

Fantastic Product
Took this out fishing the day that I received it. I was not into it even 1/2 an hour and had three-plus bites and two catches in a summer dry - creek during this spring run-off. Great pole and set-up...

Fun, but broke the tip. No replacements available.
Fished this rod for the first time on week long backpack trip in the Sierras. It's cast length is limited, but I'm guessing that's typical of tenkara rods. I caught a ton of fish using dry flies and nymphs. It's light and fun. I missed the cast of a traditional rod at times. Still, I would have come home and given it five stars, but the tip broke on the last day of the trip with normal use. The company says they don't sell replacement tips. That's a big problem for these somewhat delicate rods. You're going to break a tip. It's a matter of when, not if. They should sell replacement tips for this rod.Update: Wetfly has told me they have a no-hassle warranty. For $50 I can get the rod replaced. I'm going with that since it's my cheapest option for replacing this rod. We'll see how no-hassle it ends up being.
