Great for Vonnegut fans, and aspiring writers
I gave away my old edition so I could justify buying this one. I would recommend this mainly to hardcore Vonnegut fans or creative writing students who want to see how he wrote "Welcome to the Monkey House," step-by-step. The backside of the book features rough drafts of the aforementioned short-story in various incarnations, some hardly recognizable to the finished work. It's insane to see the sheer amount of rewrites and revision he did to accomplish that story.Oh and the other stories in this collection are superb, too. "Harrison Bergeron," "The Manned Missiles," "Report on the Barnhouse Effect," "The Euphio Question," "Deer in the Works,"and "Tomorrow, Tomorrow, Tomorrow," are stand-outs.

A Must Have
I lost my original edition and had to have it back. I bought an extra copy for my kids. Some of these stories had a profound effect on the college me in or around 1970. I was always impressed by how much emotion a good writer can convey with a few choice words. For anyone who wants to see a story from the collection done live, pick up a copy of "Who Am I This Time" after reading the story. You can see Susan Sarandon and Christopher Walken knock it out of the park.

Typical Vonnegut
I hadn't read any of his work for many years. It was good to get back to his storytelling. He can take a usual situation andtwist it into a sci-fi or just make an unusual outcome. I also like reading short stories because I can stay focused and put it down and start again.

Will leave you numb...from the waist down!
A much more raw Vonnegut citing his teeth on the big ideas that will come to define him.

Don't miss this one.
I was introduced to Vonnegut in college when a professor handed out mimeographed copies of "Harrison Bergeron Jr" for those who had finished their tests to read. I hadn't read very far into it before the professor leaned over and asked me to enjoy the rest of it in the hallway as my laughter was distracting the other students still taking the test.

A Most Unpleasant Title Story
Vonnegut has been one of the most stimulating reads of my life. I simply thrive on the ideas, politics, humour and humanity to be found in his 14 novels but the title work of this book of short stories is unpleasant. It features a gang rape that is not portrayed with opprobrium. Not prurient but also not necessary. It originally appeared in Playboy. If this had been the first piece by Vonnegut I'd read it might well have been the last; and what delights I would have missed. Treat as an aberration, avoid and read his other works.

Vintage Vonnegut
Haven't read Vonnegut for many years. To be honest it's a bit dated nowadays. But I enjoyed it all the same.

Varios cuentos cortos, diversos temas.
Varios cuentos cortos y un estilo muy peculiar del autor. Lo compré porque comenzé un club de lectura con amigos y la idea era tener de que hablar cada semana. Pero no muchos cuentos han causado una plática larga.

A very good collection
There are some great stories here. I'm afraid the ones included in the second half of the book are not as good, so overall it's not a perfect collection. But some of these stories are so good that they really make up for the weak ones. I strongly recommend it.
