The fact that it tilts back made it possible to do that more easily, because he was unable to sit up straight ...
This chair was a blessing for my husband and I. He had a rare neurological disease which left him completely immobile in his last months, and this allowed him to still be able to sit on a commode, which was important to him because using a bedpan was very uncomfortable and didn't work for him. We used a Hoyer lift to lower him on to it. The fact that it tilts back made it possible to do that more easily, because he was unable to sit up straight as he would have had to on a normal commode. It is so lightweight, that at first it didn't seem sturdy enough, and it made me a bit nervous, but it worked well for us, and my husband was 6'4' and about 230 lbs. We did not use it as a shower chair since we did not have a roll in shower, but I would think it would work well for that.

Rusted piece???? !!!
A week ago I would have given this shower chair a 5 star....this week a piece rusted away! inside the tilt stopper.More importantly, we purchased this in Sept 2019, use it every 3rd day until May 1st when we returned home to use a different chair in South Dakota. (We are presently in AZ) So I did the math....approximately 70 times it was used, and a piece RUSTED in two!I called to get a replacement, told to send pics to an email address. I emailed. No response from company. Called back, told to re-email. Called back, told the piece would be $15. each and $10 to ship. Didn't think that was too bad of a cost, but no question on the use I had on the chair, the warranty, or for such little money, we can send it free.We (my quadrapalegic husband and I) put are minds together, and while in HomeDepot purchased a screw and nut and BAMB!!! all fixed...total cost .30cents. Really it isn't the cost at either level...I figured I'd have to purchase and spend some amount of money....It was more of the customer service level...nothing, I was a bother to them, or at least they made me feel that way.

Not Sturdy!
This product was not at all sturdy. The brakes didn't hold very well as I lowered into the chair. The neck brace was not adjustable enough. The arms were not wide enough to support my arms. And the 20% restocking fee upon return is ridiculous. A company taking advantage of ALS patients should be ashamed of themselves!

Good little chair, but needs a little help.
I have been using this chair for over a year for my husband who is fully paralyzed now with ALS. I still like this chair, for it is light-weight and easy to move about. The chair is bare-bones, and I don't quite see how the nearly thousand dollar price is justified, bit it is what it is; and it is still the least expensive of the lot that are available in a tilt-back chair. Its minimalist presentation allows for customization. First, the head support does not conform to his contractures, so I removed it from the chair; we use a soft collar neck brace to hold his head in place. The armrests are too short and too narrow to support his arms, but I added a pair of padded arm covers that slip on and off as needed, and can transfer to a manual wheel chair. Again, the ones I found are the cheapest and most practical, for they have straps that go over the his arms and secure with hook and loop closures so his arms don't fall off the chair. This allows him to sit comfortably for long enough to do what he needs to do. None of these chairs come with urine splash guards, and the guards you can purchase are not universal--I found none that fit this model chair. The guards that are available to buy separately are stunningly expensive, too. I clip a washcloth to his pj shirt to redirect the stream. The recline set at the back is like a caliper brake one finds on bicycles. It much too hard for me to operate, so once I got it as fully reclined as it will go, I just left it in place. My husband is lifted into the chair with a mechanical lift, so that doesn't affect the chair's usefulness. Lastly, in that tilt position, the bucket wants to slide out once it has a little weight in it. I put a strap through the bale and around the front crossbar. One thing further--there were no instructions as to assembly in the packaging. Be prepared to figure it out as you go along. Please don't get mad and call it a piece of junk and don't waste your money. It needs a little help, but it is very lightweight and easy to customize to your particular needs. It sanitizes easily. I will continue to use it with good satisfaction.

the seat is hard & commode hole cover pops out, headrest is worthless & want parts
I have severe MS, can't use either leg & my right arm or hand & have severe arthritis in my neck. My neck muscles compensate by being overly pronounced on the right side & almost nonexistent on the left. This has my head leaning left at all times & my neck muscles in constant severe pain even with class painkillers. THE SEAT: I don't have much padding in "MY SEAT or LEGS" left so my bones are near the surface. The chair's hard seat is extremely painful with the commode cover out creating pressure points at the edges with my almost unprotected bones. The cover also pops out due to these pressure points. HEADREST: hard, small & for strait necks . I can't use it. NOW GO TO POSITIVE REVIEWS
