Good parts
Good partsEmmet often great to read. However naivete surrounding the US constitution, politics and crime show forth one of the greatest faults of New Thought namely blaming individuals overly for societal problems and being very naive about them. Perhaps as balanced thinking on those issues might "jeopardize" the NT practitioner who might not be able to "think positively enough about them"! Think the plight of native Americans no matter if they have been "great metaphysicians".There are great treasures in the ideas derived from people as P.P. Quimby and Emma Curtis Hopkins. The question is how idealism best hits our total reality. P.P. Quimby wrote from a type of an experience so he was thinking and writing about things to him concrete.Emmet is writing here more based on things that have worked for him and many others while from those he generalizes in ways that, if they work similarly on you as me, feel amiss and a turn off. This to be fair has partially to do with that time has passed since this was written.

Blueprint for a better life
The title'Alter your life' by Emmet Fox (1886-1951)engineer and metaphysicist sums up the message.Fox makes a powerful statement 'there is no need to be unhappy'.He reiterates' Poverty, loneliness are really bad habits'.He says'you must seize the rudder of your own destiny..steer boldly for the port you intend to make'.Not only that but if you are not sure what you want in life'The Law will tell you what you want and get if for you too'. Fox's powerful conviction is centred in God- belief in God and the Great Universal Power.Spiituality and Science are comfortable bedfellows here. Fox doesn't spiritualise everything. Quite the opposite. He grounds his spiritual belief in everyday reality.Logical thinker and mathematician that he was he outlines a simple procedure to connect with the Universal Power in a real and tangible way. Decide 3 things that you want and 3 you don't want in your life, he advises. Reflect on these every single day for one month and at the end of a month, he declares, there should be a definite change for the better in your circumstances.Today the market is on overload with positive thinking manuals. Fox was a pioneer in the field and his methodology has stood the test of time.Well worth a try!

This book teaches one how to practice powerful prayer that can potentially change one's own perspective as well as the whole world. The section on America's destiny is a bit outdated, considering the events that have taken place since the book was written.

Emmet Fox - ALL his work is a treasure!
Emmet Fox - pure gold! And here he speaks directly to living from the Heart. One of the first who could provide words to introduce Christ Consciousness (I AM, the All That Is) and take one beyond the appearance of Biblical parables. Religion, status, education etc cannot hinder one from receiving benefit from his teachings. His work is timeless, fresh and offered in true humility. He has left a legacy profound service to those "who have an ear" to hear.
