This is an excellent alternative to table salt, for use in salads. I use it as a condiment (I try to eat macrobiotically) and this is the only commercial version of goma shio that I've been able to find. For those who don't know, gomashio is made from roasted sesame seeds, which are slowly ground together (ideally by hand) with roasted salt. Both the seeds and salt are roasted first to remove more of the moisture. Oil seeps out of the sesame seeds during the slow (low-heat) grinding and coats the fine granules of salt. This makes the salt time-released, because when ingested, your body first has to digest the oil coating the salt before the salt gets into your bloodstream. This is much healthier than eating raw salt. And the sesame seeds lend a delicate, delicious flavor to salads and vegetables.So in macrobiotics, we almost never use raw salt on the table, but instead we use gomashio sprinkle. Eating a little gomashio can also give quick relief for certain kinds of headaches.I'll use maybe a teaspoon of gomashio mixed into an entire bowl of salad greens or steamed broccoli. First stir in a little oil and lemon juice on the salad as a dressing, then stir in the gomashio last. This will make any steamed vegetable delicious.

Always liked sprinkling gomasio on rice dishes and stir fry. Love the taste of sesame seeds mixed with a bit of salt. It also is not too salty

I received this package on October 6th 2023 ( I ordered it on Oct 2nd) and it is marked as Best Before July 5, 2023. It is sesame seeds which can go rancid with age so I will be tossing these. There is no refund or replacement for this item…..I am not happy!

I love this Sesame Salt to sprinkle over my salmon before I bake it. The product is flavorful.I need to try it on other products because I like the flavor of sesame.

This is a great seasoning! I love having it with eggs or vegetables. I did not realize the sesame seeds were whole and not ground, but I still love the flavor.

I first thought this one was the Seaweed Gomasio instead of just the Gomasio so I was disappointed but I find that I use this seasoning ALL THE TIME. Love it on rice, avocado toast, salads, pizza, whatever. Its delicious. I think it just became a staple in my diet.

I use it on top of my brown rice and it adds a little bit of crunch texture. It is a bit on the saltier side so don't get too overzealous if you've never tried it at first.
