The Lumix G X Vario 12-35mm f/2.8 ASPH. POWER O.I.S. from Panasonic, designed for Micro Four Thirds mirrorless cameras, offers a versatile 24-70mm equivalent zoom range with a bright constant f/2.8 maximum aperture. This wide-angle to portrait-length lens excels in difficult lighting conditions and provides greater depth of field control for selective focus. Its optical design includes four aspherical elements, one UHR element, and one UED element to reduce spherical and chromatic aberrations, enhancing sharpness and clarity. A Nano Surface Coating minimizes lens flare and ghosting for better contrast in bright, backlit conditions. The lens features a POWER O.I.S. system to minimize camera shake, beneficial for handheld shooting in challenging lighting. A stepping AF motor and internal focusing mechanism ensure quick, quiet focusing, suitable for both photo and video. The lens is weather-sealed against moisture and dust, making it reliable in harsh environments. Its constant f/2.8 aperture ensures consistent performance throughout the zoom range, while the rounded seven-blade diaphragm contributes to pleasing bokeh quality.

This one is a keeper.
As others have said this is a great lens. It has a very useful zoom range, it's sharp, and is a pleasure to shoot with. The constant F2.8 is nice and I've shot with this hand held in fairly low light without issue. It feels well built but because of this, it adds some noticeable weight to the camera. It's not heavy but it's not a 25mm prime either. The OIS works well and even better when paired with my GX8.Overall I am happy with my purchase of this lens and I recommend it.

The OIS is nice. Makes a clicking noise when you change aperture ...
Sharp as a tack. The OIS is nice. Makes a clicking noise when you change aperture or zoom though.

and waaay better than the kit lens
I own some of the high end Canon glass, so I wasn't expecting much. When it arrived, I wasn't blown away by the quality of the build, but that quickly faded when i saw some of the pictures this thing takes. For under a grand, the sharpness, saturation, etc. are superb. Worth the money, and waaay better than the kit lens, of course.

Sharp lens for still photography, not very useful for video
It a nice lens. It's very sharp and the craftsmanship is solid. Feels great to use. If it were priced at 500 dollars it would be a great lens. There is a flaw with this lens when used with video. The specs claim it's a constant 2.8 aperture.. and this is true and works for still photography. However when you use this lens for video and zoom with it on a subject, there is a flicker that is apparently caused by the aperture readjusting as you zoom. I would not recommend using this lens for video use.

Japanese Model
Be aware that this lens is mailed directly from Japan, thus is will not be guaranteed by Panasonic America. And that is the reason it is so much cheaper than other listings of this model. I assumed this lens is new and I have nothing that makes me believe otherwise, other than it did not come in a box, it did not come with a warranty card or any other paperwork. Also the cap on the lens connection side was missing, replaced with the cap for the camera connection. And, there are very minor scratches on the focus ring. If all this bothered me, I would send it back. But I feel I got a great lens at much less than market price, thus I am well pleased. So this message is simply an FYI

Nice sharp lens
Nice lens. I use this as my primary lens on my Panasonic GH4. It's so small compared to my Canon 24-70. The auto focus is good on the GH4, in photo it's super fast, and video it does auto focus and track focus. Not as fast as the 70D, but still very nice option to tap the screen and focus and track that point.

Great lens, and I have no issues with buying these w/o US warranty - never a failure.
While I haven't had a lot of time to use this, when I did, it performed as expected! It's my "normal" lens on my Olympus OMD M5 camera body now.
