I bought the small scoop by mistake for my chicken coop, however, even the small scoop makes a huge difference. Cleaning time goes much quicker. It’s very sturdy and easy to store. I could get by easily with the smaller scooper but will probably order the next size up. A+++

I prefer a metal litter scoop. This one has a squared off edge which makes getting into the litter box corners easier than the one I have which has rounded edges. The litter falls through the wire mesh and the waste is easy to scoop.

Either there is a part missing or there is something non-intuitive about putting the three sections together the correct way. I just figured it out while taking a break from writing this review. Here’s the deal: clearly I received a returned item that the original purchaser put together incorrectly. The product box was not sealed and wzas a bit smashed. I should have returned it on the seller’s dime at that point. I could insert one section into the other and it would slide in or out, but the latching mechanism was at the far end of the middle section down by the scoop, so it wouldn’t lock into position. Or I could insert the end where the latch was into the handle section but it would not slide in. After scratching my head for quite a while I pulled very hard on the latch thing (thinking it was going to break—it was plastic, so...). But it came off with great effort. Then with great effort I was able to slide the latch onto the handle section and then slide the middle section into the handle section and voila—the latch would close and it worked. So one star off for selling me a used and mis-assembled unit, and one star off for no clear directions other than to just slide the two pieces together and close the latch at the desired point. I had to use guesswork to figure out the entire picture and fix the mis-assembled unit. It works fine now. But come on now seller—don’t re-ship returned units unless you have thoroughly inspected it and assured that it is exactly as it should be for a customer sale. This was mickey mouse business operation in my view.UPDATE 27-Dec-2020:After fixing the problem for which the seller offered no assistance whatsoever, these scoops are invaluable (I purchased two more that arrived intact/unopened—I have three litter stations and four cats) for myself, having had multiple back surgeries. The handle (completely extended) is the right length so I don’t need to bend at all. The scoop has smaller openings than typical scoops: and that is a good thing unless you use pellets or larger than normal litter particles)—it keeps smallish bits of dried poo and pee clumps that have come apart, from falling thru. I highly recommend this product, though I am still peeved at the seller for being of no help for the “used” unit that had been assembled wrong. They blamed Amazon, but I chided them for not controlling their supply chain. They could easily instruct Amazon to either return customer returns to the seller, or else throw them away. Re-shipping a customer return risks send a customer one that is damaged or has dried cat stuff on it . Come on—wake up vendors !!!!!

4 stars due to the small size, but the scoop works great in scooping chicken turdlets out of the coop run, which is sand. Will probably not work well in any other medium but sand.

I have had one for years, bought a back up because this is the best scooper ever made! Do not hesitate. I am glad my plastic one broke, this is sooooooo much better. GREAT price and fast ship.

Wife has shoulder pain, so this is the perfect size besides working great, to reach inside covered boxes. This is perfect for us old folks with back and other issues...highly reccomend this product. Bought two more for friends.

Ive spend probably around $250 in the last year on different types of crap scooping tools. Some broke within a week or 2, others hurt my back, some where to heavy or short. I wish i wouldve just spent the money for this one off the bat. Its very well made. It can be used for lots of different applications. I currently use it to scoop chicken crap from their sandy coop floor and it makes it so much cleaner with way less wasted i made it as long as possible so i dont have to be hunched over which kills my back. I also have a cat and may buy a 2nd one if I have extra money in the future. Its at the top of the class for sure. You wont regret it. My 12 yr old son saw it when it was fresh out the box and said he wanted to take it to the beach.... the chicken coop beach willl have to do for now though lol.

We use the okocat litter which is very small chunks of wood shavings. It's very similar in texture and size to clay litter, but the wood does not slide through the mesh of this scoop as well as sand or clay, I guess. The scoop is very well made and comfortable to use, but a giant pile of litter just sits in the scoop and refuses to sift out. I tried using wire snips to make the holes larger in the mesh, but that didn't help and I ended up throwing the scoop away in defeat. I think it would work really well for other types of litter, but I do want to warn other shoppers that it's a bust when used for wood litter. The welding job that attaches the wire mesh to the frame is excellent.

Great tool for short beach combers! And yes, even us shorter folks have back issues. But not when using this great tool.

This sand-dipper is amazing! I have always struggled with clumping cat litter, but the sand-dipper is really good for scooping up the clumps. It is easy to get under the clump and lift it in one, with the clean litter quickly sifting back through into the tray. It makes cleaning the litter tray fun!The long handle makes it even easuer to use!
