This Michoacán style girl dress (blouse and skirt) is made by women in communities near Mexico city. Michoacán is the state of Mexico where Purepechas have lived for a long time, in the land around Lake Patzcuaro. Women use sophisticated clothing: A skirt with a pattern, a long blouse with embroidery at the bottom and around the neck, a belt strapped on the back, and usually a rebozo. The blouse is made of poplin with handmade embroidery, and the skirt in broadcloth with elastic on waist. Blouses with more embroidery are used in special celebrations. Aprons are also typically used and they also have nice cross stitch embroidery decoration. We are working with co-ops of women that work together to make pieces of art using their available time at home to embroider and woven. We support the indigenous families of Mexico empowering them to earn a stable income and providing a window to the world for their products with a fair trade price. Great for one time use
Cute costume type of outfit. Great for one time use. The red belt was received in shreds, ripping on all ends and sides. The blouse was the best part of the outfit, you may be able to get additional uses for this item. The skirt was received in pieces. The white trim at the bottom was not attached to the actual skirt in more the half of the bottom of the skirt. The skirt material is borderline paper quality. I had to run around trying to find a tailor that could attach the white lace to the skirt, as I know doing it by hand would not hold well. After going to 4 places, a dry cleaners was able to attach the hem/white lace and reinforce it all around for and additional $10. Also the skirt had pulled color strings throughout. I tied knots at the ends and cut loose strings to avoid it additional ripping of the skirt. Consider spending an additional few bucks for better quality.

Simple but worth every penny!!!
Perfect outfit for my daughters Halloween costume as Frida Kahlo. Fit perfectly! The top could be wore out or tucked in. The colors on the skirt are vibrant and beautiful.
