Red Letter Days

Disc good, case broken. Music THE BEST.
The CD is a replacement for an old favorite, and the disc itself is in good condition, and plays fine. The case had light scratching which is acceptable for a used item. It also had a crack at the upper hinge. It shipped in a cardboard envelope with no wrapping, so case may have cracked in transit. There ISN’T a bad song on this CD. Favorites are hard to pick, but Everybody Out Of The Water, and Empire In My Mind are tops.

Lots of Energy
This feels like the most aggressive of the Wallflowers' first four albums. There are a few moment where, to me, Jakob seems to be trying a little to hard to sing some rapid fire, intense passages, but on the whole this is pretty good. It has been said that this is a more produced, commercial album than Breach, but I always thought of Breach as being a bit smoother and produced sounding. This does have some sparkle, but it also has lots of the layers of gritty guitars, which connects it favorably to Bringing Down the Horse. "Closer to You" is really pretty. Check out the last 3 or 4 tracks; "Everything I Need" in particular is just fantastic, bombastic, this band at its emotional best. It took me a long time to really get to know that song since it is near the end, but there is some good stuff there. Also, "See You When I Get There" has what sounds like a female backing vocalist, who is a perfect counterbalance to Jakob. I would have loved to hear more of her on this album.I actually give this 3.5 stars. There are a few tracks that I am not crazy about, but if you are a WF fan, obviously this is worth getting. I would suggest Bringing Down the Horse as an introduction if it is your first foray into the WF.

Poor presentation, so so quality for a reissue.
This review has to do with quality of packaging. Cheap looking sleeve that is really thin and not worthy of an anniversary edition of a record. Also surprised it is not 180 gram vinyl. Great album just too bad the reissue presentation is so poor.

Terrific Album, Great Vinyl Deal
This is a terrific album. But I'm writing all these years after it was first released to say that the double vinyl anniversary edition sounds good and is a great deal at $21.

Disappointing
Disappointing set of tunes. Too much of a Stylistic departure from that classic Wallflowers "sound" - you get the impression they're Trying too hard to fit in with a new audience rather than writing music from the heart. If you're still looking for something that will compare in quality and craft to "Bringing Down the Horse" you'll need to keep looking.

Versatile and great variety
Probably my favorite wallflowers album as it contains what I find to be their most versatile and diverse CD yet. Of course I like bringing down the horse cd and also Breach from 2000. As a comparison, I don't enjoy their 2005 or 2012 albums as much as Red letter days

Great
Well, I don't agree with some of the reviews for this album. You probably don't care about that, but many of these people try to make themselves sound like experts in music, which some of them might be. However, i am sure most of them aren't. If you like a good mix of alternative/rock (Springstein style)/pop all put together on a great album by a great band, buy Red Letter Days. Just because Breach may be better, doesn't mean this isnt a good album. Definetely buy it. It has some nice easy to listen to songs like Closer To You and such, and cool songs like Too Late To Quit and Everybody Out Of The Water. Do buy.

Superb Wallflowers
One of the best albums ever (yes that good!) Certainly their best and the best work Jacob ahs produced. Why isn't this a better known album? I simply do not know. You will be singing along by the second listen and then argue with friends which is the best track - changing your mind as every new track begins.
