Trimmed Leeks 500g

Very well prepared and flavourful leeks, clear of bugs and soil, and reasonably priced. Good sized but tender, these were served not only as a side vegetable with a savoury pie and boiled new potatoes, but very finely sliced and added to a salad, chopped up in a casserole and served in a cheese sauce as part of a light lunch. Leeks are more versatile than you'd think! I'd buy them again.

Leeks are so versatile and can be used as a main course dish or a side. The quality of these were excellent and had a lot of flavour so I used them for a main course of sliced potatoes, zucchini, leeks, layered with a rich creamy sauce topped with cheese. I served it with a generous serving of mushrooms. Just so delicious!

The Leeks were well trimmed, although overall lengths did vary by a few millimetres, I cannot really say if this was outside of specification as there was no stated length or tolerances contained on the packaging. I prefer the trimmed versions as I do not have to pay for the waste that I will ultimately trim myself, and the additional impact, delivering the waste portion, on the environment is mitigated by trimming at source, of course I recognise I am paying more per gram but overall I would imagine there is little difference to overall cost per usable Leek.
