This is a very nice piece. I think the confusion from other reviewers is there trying to actually use it as a pulley system to lift things up. For the price it's not built to do that it is a decoration piece. I used it to hang a rustic lantern in a corner in my big timber home. I'm not using it as a pulley system just a hanger accent piece. I think it's beautiful

Honestly this is a great piece and it's a real toss up between 4 and 5 stars. It is definitely a great price and worth buying.We purchased this to go into a reading nook. I used a mason jar light with cloth cord which I fed through the hanging block portion. It looks really good and was much more affordable than some of the actual antique items I was looking at before.The welds are very clean and it looks like it will last a long time. So as a functional piece it is definitely very good if not great.However, there are some cons.1) Up close it is clearly a modern piece. This is expected for the price but I thought it important to mention. I would still give it 5 stars if this were the only limitation because, quite frankly that is barely a problem even not counting the price.2) The knots needed to be retied. I wouldn't have trusted the knots that were tied to support the light. They felt loose and slipped when I pulled on them. I ended up doing different knots which were more sturdy. Again, this is minor but if you are doing something similar to what I did know that you may also need to tie better knots.3) The block is not a real pulley. This is another minor quibble. I can't tell with it mounted and with the lamp cord going through. In some respects it seems to hold better since it isn't a real pulley. That is to say the cable doesn't move freely so it is holding very well. However, it did give me trouble putting the cable through in the first place. I thought I'd have to drill it out . Eventually I was able to get enough of the cable through to pull it but it was a very tight fit. Some projects might not work because of it. At least they might not work without a modification.4) The hook is welded to the bottom. This is the issue that makes me take a star off. Maybe by itself I might not but it definitely puts it over. All 3 of the other drawbacks would still leave this a 5 star but this makes me give it a 4 star. For some projects you might use the hook but I used the block for a couple different reasons. I had hoped to simply remove the hook. I even imagined that I could use bolt cutters to clip it and leave the loop the hook was attached to. However not only is the loop welded to the band, but the hook is welded to the loop so it can't be removed without grinding the loop off. Honestly I'm not sure why the hook is welded into the loop but it is frustrating.Despite the cons this is a brilliant piece and looks absolutely amazing. I've had so much positive feedback on how it looks as an assembled product that it is tempting to give this 5 stars even though that hook bugs me.

I love these, I bought three for our cabin and hung a little battery operated light from them. I like that you can untie the rope and adjust the length on it. What I don’t like is that once I had these in my cart and went to check out a day or two later the price had tripled. I can’t stand when sellers do that hoping to catch you off guard and rake your wallet. I deleted them from my cart and waited a couple days and the price went back to normal. Usually I won’t purchase from that person but I couldn’t find anything else similar from a different seller. Doesn’t come with any hardware so you’ll have to have your own screws/nails for hanging.

I absolutely love how this turned out! I did a little adjusting on the string and used them to hold my plants and its cute! Everyone that sees them loves them!

It is very cute but for decoration only. I bought it for a plant hanger and it will not hold anything heavy. It looks nice on the wall but buckled when I tried to hang my plant on it.

I should have read previous reviews more closely. Rather than rustic, item is merely shoddy and definitely for decorative purposes only. The metal surrounding the top wheel is twisted, causing the wheel to be slanted which allows the rope to fall out of the groove as the wheel spins. The rope doesn't appear particularly sturdy, so I wouldn't even feel comfortable hanging anything of any particular weight on the hook. I certainly wouldn't want to hang anything breakable or burning from the hook, just in case the rope gives out. Maybe I can use it for a coat hook...
