If you want your GED, get this book!!!!!!!
First off, shipping time was amazing!!!! I got this 2 days after I ordered and I chose standard shipping! When I got this and saw how big it was my heart fell in my stomach. I've dropped out of school about 15 years ago and was scared that I actually had to read this whole thing. I thought getting my GED would never happen. This book was SO simple and easy to use. It really breaks down each subject and teaches you in an easy to understand way. It has pre tests in the beginning of the book that you start off with, then it has a score tally page that based on the numbers you got wrong with areas in that subject you need to focus on. Then after you've studied those areas within that subject it has a full length practice tests at the end of the book, right before the answer section starts. The way this boom is broken down made me confident to do my GED! I practiced one subject for about a week then went and took my GED test for that subject. I would recommend purchasing the calculator it talks about in this book! It goes over how to use the calculator so your even more prepared during the test. If you want your GED get this book!!!!

Great resource to help you pass the GED
I recently got my GED with honors score and I used this book as a study tool. The author knows the topics quite well and she's a true educator, so that even tricky questions are designed to help you learn something if you give the wrong answer. I also liked the online mock exams, you should definitely take advantage of that once you buy the book. The look and feel of the online exams is very close to the real thing and the quality of the questions is as good as the ones on the book. This book was NOT my only source, I also used an online math course and paid $24 for the 4 official mock exams. The only reason I don't give this book 5 stars is because it was structured in a way that seems to assume that you're going to take all the exams at once. That's how it used to be in the past, but now in 2014, if you live in a State that allows for online tests, you can take the exams at your own pace and convenience, one at a time. Also, the online contents still have room for improvement.Anyway, the book is great, it's not expensive and has plenty of good stuff to help you prepare for the GED. Good luck!

Best GED Book to Buy!
This is a great book for GED practice. I highly recommend this book. When I was planning on taking my GED test last year I needed something that would help me. Since I had been out of school for quite a few years I knew Math and some Science would be tricky for myself. My mother was looking around and suggested this book to me. I went for it and it was the best choice I could have made. This book covers everything that you will need in the tests. This book has a really amazing Math section. I have issues with algebra and this book broke it down in a way that made sense to me. Math can hurt me unless it's first broken down. I highly recommend studying the geometry section in the Math part. I studied everything in this book but when I went to take my Math test I wasn't expecting nearly as much geometry as there was. So, if you have trouble with that study study study!

Very helpful
This book is helping me a lot. I dropped out of high school at sixteen. I've been tryin to get my GED for a couple years now. I've tried Barron's GED book, but the work was too hard. Kaplan GED book explains things very clearly and I feel like I can pass the test. I'm twenty years old and a high school dropout but anything is possible. It's never too late and I want people who doubt themselves to go for it! Get your GED!! If I can do it, anyone can do it!!!

This book is a life saver
I am currently preparing to take the GED myself and this book has helped me grasp concepts that high school half a dozen teachers couldn't (such as Geometry). The pretests and practice tests are great at pinpointing exactly what you need to study and give you the exact page numbers of the lessons you should review.I could go on and on about how much I love this book. If you plan on taking the G.E.D. I cannot express enough how helpful this book will be to you.

Good coverage of the 2014 GED, but has mistakes and political bias.
I teach social studies, math, and science portions of the GED and I like the way the book is broken up into easily digested sections and the pre- and post-tests are very helpful. The answers in the back are written well and help the student to continue the learning process after the test or problem is answered. The book seems to have been updated with all the latest 2014 GED standards and is very helpful in digesting the differences. The book appears to be also using some new math at times. For instance I found it ludicrous that a bank does not pay compound interest even after 5 years for the sake of overly simplifying things. You might want to avoid this complexity, but don't throw a system at them that is illogical and not realistic. Compound interest is always compounded in real life at some interval—perhaps months, but not an interval of 5 years. They also have a few spots where they employ bad data analysis. They have the reader correlate the results from two graphs of data that are uncorrelated and has an extremely small sample size. The analysis technique is valid but not for this dataset.Overall, I would say they did an excellent job of picking good variety of mathematical problems that help in the learning preparation for the GED. They also did an excellent job of stretching the student to interpret the many graphical and tabular datasets they provide—just not always realistically. As a practicing scientist myself, I find at times that the science the book focuses on often seem to be politically motived rather than focusing on good science. The example at hand is global warming. They treat this as resolved issue, while the scientific community is still divided on this. I try to teach my students the scientific process involves hypotheses and theories and sometimes take decades to refine theories. I teach my students too, that we in the public have to recognize where there is solid scientific evidence and when to back off and let scientist continue the process. The book at times though seems like political propaganda. For instance, the book classifies jury duty as "participating in the political process". Excuse me, I teach my students that the goal of the judiciary branch of the government is to be fair and blind. How can a political based judiciary be fair if two judges are expected to give two different rulings just because they are members of this or that political party? Another example is that they report in one of their articles that the number of extinct animal species is at 99%. Science can not agree even on how many species there are today, which is between 2 and 80 million according to scientist. Some say that the number of extinct species is possibly below 1%, yet the article reports 99%. Science works in ranges and estimates, and to report such an outlandish number shows extreme bias. Perhaps they were interested in just a fictitious article for the sake of discussion, but they use examples that sound real.I like this book enough that I will use it in my classroom, because it can generate some really good lively discussions on science and world affairs that a more sanitized version would miss out on. I would not recommend it for general consumption without having someone more educated and balanced in their world view to help debrief them on the indoctrination that book attempts to employ. In all fairness, other books, the GED itself and Common-Core Standards are probably just as biased because the national educational system has a political agenda that does not belong in the educational field. Sorry; scientist do not like politics to get into their science.
