I used this HDD for about a month, in stable conditions (cool, ventilated room), and the HDD just stopped working a month later. No amount of re-formatting has fixed the issue, leading me to believe it's a hardware issue. This could be a one-off case, since HDDs do have a chance of failing, but mine did so take that how you will.

Using as external for my PS5 and it complements perfectly the visual of the PS5. Highly recommended for the PS4 games.

BOUGHT IT LAST DECEMBER AND I DID MY BACKUP IN THIS DRIVE! GUESS WHAT? NOW THAT I NEED MY FILES IT IS CORRUPTED! THIS IS ONLY THE 3RD TIME THAT I USED THIS DEVICE!

Recebi o pedido em 24 hs. Perfeita, a parte da Amazon.No anúncio, comprei um produto NOVO. Entretanto, a caixa em que recebi o HD Externo Toshiba não tinha lacres originais, mas sim do ""importador" brasileiro (Agis Equipamentos). O produto veio com uma das faces riscada, típicos de um produto já usado. (estranhei também não vir com aquela película plástica de proteção.Não acredito em toca de produtos no Brasil (aqui, se vc reclamar, é capaz que te mandem um produto internamente mais danificado ainda).Enfim, fica o ALERTA.Resumo: insatisfeito e frustrado com a compra.

Would not buy it again. I ordered two. One still works, the other one went dead two days after delivery. I was able to copy an archive on it. Then two days later it would first not mount any more. I tested various UNIX fs-checks and tried to reformat the drive (I'm a computer scientist btw.). No success, the drive is dead. It shows as a device but you can not do any I/O operations. I could even hear that the heads were not moving (which has to happen e.g. during formatting). Unfortunately the data I copied on it was not encrypted, so I can not send the drive back to amazon for refund. Unfortunately it is also not possible to transplant the actual drive into another casing (e.g. if only the controller is broken). I popped open the casing, but the drive within has the USB connectors soldered directly on the logic board (No SATA connectors in there - booh!) So there really is no way to reuse any parts of the product.

I bought two, even with the bad reviews and now I'm paying for it. One worked great and is really fast with transfer speeds upto 10GB sec. It also has the new USB 3 to USB type C. so no good in a laptop. The second one failed after 10 minutes.DO NOT BUY PLEASE AVOID THIS HDD

Waste of time and money as a backup external hard drive. I know hard drives can fail which is why people buy backups but I expected it to last much longer than 1 month.Just missed the Amazon returns policy by 2 days when I checked this morning so not sure if I can return directly to Toshiba or seller

Very best and portable recognised by most Operating systems . I use it for the PS4 to store games worked first time after formatting.
