my best friend and I sunk over 600 hours playing it
This game is a blast in the past for me. I remember as a kid, my best friend and I sunk over 600 hours playing it, so when I bought this copy I acknowledged I might have had some nostalgia tinted goggles on. However, that being said, I had almost as much fun as I did back when I first played this game.It is one of the best dungeon crawling multiplayer romps that you could possibly play, hands down. Everything feels really well polished and exploring each area is extremely fun, even areas that have a somewhat similar setting still feel unique to each other. Multiple visits to the same places never get tedious because there are so many places to look around and explore in, and I was thrilled to go back to some of my favorites as I went along.I love the high fantasy setting and how the world is built. The races, the major and small cities alike, everything is built around the kind of adventure you are having and the story is told in bite sized chunks that never get sour to relish in. Small details add up to complete an epic that spans many in-game years (or in my case, irl years) and beating the final boss is immensely satisfying in ways that most AAA games today can't compete with because of how it's built up to it.Yes, I know I'm lavishing this game with praise but it seriously is one of my all-time favorite games. My only real complaints would be that transferring between places in the overworld map can get kind of clunky, the mail you get from home is a nice touch but is a bit tedious, and while carrying around a crystal to protect yourself from the miasma definitely helps to keep the immersion going it can get a bit tedious carrying it around because of how it slows your movement. The BIG complaint that I would make though, and the one which probably explains why this game never took off as much as anyone thought it would is because of how Nintendo forced it's failed GCN - GBA connectivity on this game as a prerequisite for multiplayer (where the game thrives the most). In order to play multiplayer, all players MUST have not just a GBA but a specific adaptor that will plug the GBA into the GCN control slots. It does make organizing menus clutter the screen less and it is nice how when other people are in menus they will automatically follow the crystal, but honestly there is nothing that ever comes on the GBA screen that couldn't be consolidated into a small corner on the TV screen by the player portraits. It sucks because I believe this game to truly be one of the most under-appreciated gems of that entire generation of consoles, but that's the way it is. It is still a great experience solo and don't worry, you will have a moogle that will help you carry the crystal if you are alone (though really it should have been made so it carries the damn thing always unless a player takes it from them). If you have a Wii that can play GCN games, or a GCN that is collecting dust, this is a perfect venture to undertake.

Addictive and Tactical
This is a good spin off from the main Final Fantasy series. It gets that tactical part of your brain thinking. I myself have come up with many good tactics and strategies to win and save the world. Everytime, it works. I love putting new tactics into action. I recommend this game if you love being tactical and love a real time battle simulator
