They sound great. Don't overpower them.
These speakers are great. The mounting depth is like 4 in. So unless you have a lot of space behind the speaker don't try putting these on a door. I actually cut the plastic grill off the door panel and screw the speaker into the mounting bracket on the door, through the door panel. It came out looking pretty clean. I put these in the front doors of a 2012 GMC Canyon ( the last year of the 1st gen Canyon) I also have these 6.5 pioneers in the front doors of a 2002 GMC Yukon. They fit alright, I had to cut some of the door out. And when the window is rolled all the way down it rubs the magnet. If I adjusted the placement it would probably clear the window. But I just don't roll the window down all the way. I was also able to fit the 8-in Pioneer Pro speakers in the back doors of The 2002 Yukon. The windows don't roll down completely in the door because of the curve at the bottom of the doors. So after cutting out a little bit of the door and some of the door panel I was able to make them fit good enough. The sound quality of the speakers is pretty impressive. They outperform some old school JL C5 component speakers that I had in the front doors of the Canyon. I like these speakers enough to have bought them three times. I like them.I bought3.5 tweaters2 sets of the 6.5.And a set of 8 inch big boys. With a pioneer touch screen head unit in both trucks.

Surprisingly good sound quality
Back in 1979 I bought a very expensive pair of home HiFi speakers (price then $400 - equivalent to $1500 today). In recent months I noticed that something was not quite right with the sound quality and when I removed the grill, realized that the woofer foam driver surround had disintegrated (picture attached). I know that foam replacements are available, but I wasn't sure how well they would work with the plastic cone and the rather unusual way the foam was glued to the back of the cone. I thought I would try these pioneer drivers instead and was pleased to find that they were a perfect fit and even the screw holes lined-up exactly (picture attached). The swap just took a few minutes per speaker.Even more surprising is that the sound quality from these Pioneer drivers was (best as I could tell) equivalent to my old drivers when they were still in good condition.I should add that my system does have a separate sub-woofer in-line before the speakers, so I really can't comment on the low frequency response because this part of the spectrum is handled by the sub-woofer and filtered out of the signal passed through to the speakers.

Good quality
They sound great and have a large basket to magnet in depth so make sure you have room or you can custom make a plate if your going to put them in your doors so you have room for your windows to roll down and the back of the speaker doesn't rest on your door.
