The Wenger Swiss Military Men's Classic Field Military Watch showcases superior construction and quick-charge luminous hour markers and watch hands, making it a highly functional, yet simple timepiece. Constructed with a stainless steel case, the watch includes a stationary stainless steel bezel and a brown leather wristband secured with a buckle clasp. A durable mineral window protects the ivory dial, which features luminous Arabic numeral hour markers with the Wenger Swiss logo resting in the 12 o'clock position. The dial also includes slim black minute indexes, a clearly marked 24-hour clock cycle, and a date calendar at three o'clock. Featuring Swiss-quartz movement, this timepiece is water resistant to 330 feet (100 M). In addition, it comes packaged in a padded aluminum Wenger Swiss watch tin. Precision. Craftsmanship. Multi-functionality.Wenger supplied the Swiss Army with multi-functional tools as early as 1908. That’s over 100-years of history being there with the right tool at the right time for literally millions of troops and consumers. Today, the Wenger brand stands as a benchmark for quality, multi-functionality and precision engineering. Many watches have quartz movements and stainless steel cases. But there is one feature only a few timepieces can claim – a pedigree. In 1988 Wenger turned its inimitable hand to that other icon of Swiss craftsmanship - the Swiss Watch. The exacting standards reflected in Wenger Swiss Army knives extend to a collection of multi-functional Swiss-made watches for men and women. It’s no wonder our timepieces are prized the world over for their accuracy, handsome design and authentic craftsmanship. Not to mention the heritage of Swiss innovation that makes all Wenger products legendary.

I took the plunge...
And have not regretted a thing. No reviews here, and not too many on similar wenger watches, so I was walking in blind. However, the simple design and basic materials caused me to take the chance and buy it.I'm glad I did. It fits well on the wrist, and does not get too sweaty in heat (although the backside of the watch tends to accumulate sweat) and is not too heavy. The depth of the watch is a bit more than I anticipated, but that is ok. It is light on the wrist and the first day I wore it, I forgot it was there. The lighted face is useful, but it oftens need a charge in light before it is bright enough to see in darkness. The glass face has no scratches, and while the steel rim has one, it is due to user error and not material quality.A good watch. If you are looking for something rugged, dependable, and not ostentatious - Get this.

Cheap feeling
I previously reviewed the 72915 field watch that is mostly canvas and rated it higher because it is slightly more comfortable to wear. The size and color of this watch are exactly what I wanted but I thought that a watch that retails about double what it costs on amazon would feel better. I wear the 72915 every day to work and it has become softer and I hope that the more opportunities I have to wear this dressier watch it will soften as well and not be nearly as irritating to my wrist. These watches are still great values for the money and are much more suitably sized than a lot of dive watches I see other Recruits wearing.

Great Watch
This is a great watch! I can assure you that the picture does not give this piece a fair amount of justice. I was very wary about buying this watch, because of all the bad reviews that it had received but decided to do it anyways. I have been in the market for an everyday casual watch. Something that was practical and good looking at the same time. I finally came across this watch while browsing Amazon one day and it really got my attention, and when it finally came and I had it in my hand I was very impressed. The case, it seems, is made out of a solid block of steel, brushed to a finish. The face is clean and the quality of the markings and the hands are amazing! The leather strap brings an organic feel to the piece, and contrast nicely against the steel case. Overall it is a handsome watch and a great buy.

Poor time keeper
This is a good looking watch that will not keep good time- always runs slow. So much for Swiss workmanship. After nine weeks I sent it back to NY for repair- Wenger wanted $10 for return shipping. What a deal

Great watch!
I looked at a multitude of watches and finally found this Wenger Swiss. It had exactly what I wanted - a real padded leather strap, white face, with the date. I didn't need the other toys. It keeps impeccable time, looks great and it's easy to read. I'd buy another one in a minute or will in the future as a gift.

The star rating that I have given this watch is not due to the style or manufacture of the watch both of which are excellent. What really disappointed me was the fact that the rubber seal to the battery cover was pinched on arrival and there for it lets in water and as a result also ends up with condensation behind the glass. On the face of it, no pun intended, this problem is not a show stopper and can be rectified locally but at cost of both time and money. Sadly it exemplifies the poor standard of QA/QC that the company is employing and goes against everything that the company is supposed to stand for. Will I ever buy another ? the answer is NO.

Nice rugged watch for the price.
This is a very nice, rugged watch at a very affordable price for a "Swiss Made" watch. The Wenger model 72900 is a very well made watch for the person with a modest budget. The dial is white with large, green, luminous numerals and bars. This is certainly very easy to see for someone such as myself who now wears bifocals. The minute and hour hands are black with luminous inserts and contrast well with the white of the dial, making them very easy to see. The second hand is a very easy-to-see red color and ticks precisely, hitting the center of numbers or bars - always a good sign of quality manufacture. The face also includes small 24-hour numbers for those on military time. The case is a an attractive, glare-free brushed stainless steel. The stainless steel back is nicely polished and etched with the Wenger Swiss Army logo as well as it's "Swiss Made" and 100m water resistance designations. The band is a very soft, brown leather that I found comfortable from day one. There's no "break in" time for this band. It's very nicely stitched and has two "keepers". It fit me perfectly and still does. It even comes in a nice aluminum "tin" with registration and instruction manual. This watch is a no-frills, simple and - to my mind - attractive watch at a very modest price. I haven't found anything yet that I don't like about it and give it five stars!Edit: 8/4/2012 - The watch stopped working after owning it for about a week. I thought perhaps the crown had become snagged on something and pulled out a little bit, thus stopping the watch movement. I reset the time and pushed in the crown and it began working. Unfortunately, it has quit twice more. I am returning it to Amazon for an exchange. We'll see how the next one does.Edit: 9/4/2012 - Amazon stood behind the product it sells and exchanged the defective item for new one. The new watch has performed flawlessly since I got it about a month ago and have no qualms. It does pay to buy things from Amazon as opposed to their affiliate sellers because Amazon generally stands behind its products better and makes returns/exchanges very easy to get done quickly.Edit: 2/4/2013 - After six months, the replacement watch has served me flawlessly. It is quite accurate, gaining only 9 seconds per month - quite good for a quartz watch. It seems reasonably rugged and the band wears well. This is a nice, swiss-made watch for the money.

Misleading Dimensions?
The face diameter is listed as 1.5" which translates into 38 mm, which is what I thought I was getting. I wanted a slightly smaller face than the standard 41 mm. The diameter is 41 mm, 3mm to much, which was a disappointment.

Good quality watch at a decent price!!!
I was looking for a simple watch that was made well and kept good time. This watch met those requirements very well.I have become a fan of Wenger watches and they sit right beside my Victorinox - which admittedly are still a step above the Wengers..Can't think of a thing that I don't like about this watch. No toys . . . just a watch.
