This bentwood ring is made of Gray Koto with a Silver German Glass and .999 Pure Silver inlay. The Gray Koto is a very light, almost silver color and has a unique grain pattern. Bentwood is an ancient method of soaking or steaming strips of wood, and bending them around a shape. The wood strips are allowed to dry and then a glue is applied to hold them in place. The ring is then sanded to shape and finished with Cyanoacrylate to achieve a smooth and glassy coat. These rings are extremely tough and durable. Only under extraordinary circumstances would one of these rings break. They are also waterproof, as the wood is "impregnated" with Cyanoacrylate and not merely coated with it. We happily guarantee these rings for life, and we will refinish them anytime you feel like your ring could use some TLC. If you want a wood ring for life, bentwood is the obvious choice. Please do not wear any type of wood ring while using harsh chemicals. This can break down the glue that holds your ring together and destroy it's finish. I would also suggest removing the ring before getting into the ocean or any salt water. Everything I create is made to order, so your piece will be one of a kind.
