quality video monitor with tones of use features
this is a video camera monitor from the brand fotga, which manufactures a wide range of professional camera accessories, this is the first time i use a video monitor, i ordered it as i found the built in camera of my dslr is too small and not convenient enough for taking videothis monitor equipped with a 5 inches lcd screen, very lightweight and small in size, it could either mount with thread at bottom, or thread on the side, also there is a hot shoe mount is included, the viewing angle is adjustable, it enhanced the low angle video shooting as i could still see the view very clearlythe screen is quite bright for outdoor use, there is a high bright mode to enhance the video quality when the sun is too bright, or i could use the detachable sunshade hood for the best result under the sunthe package includes a hdmi to hdmi cable, i had to order a hdmi to mini hdmi adapter for my dslr, i hope the product is thoughtful enough to include one so i could use it immediately when unboxedthere are tones of professional colour controlling functions with the monitor, function buttons F1 to F7 is configurable to control a specific function to fit my needthe lcd is a touch screen, but i found the monitor housing is quite hot when operating, eventually i found there is a fan cooling function, surprisingly it’s default to off, i wish it default to on to let me know it exists, i still have the option to turn it off when shooting in quiet atmospherethis monitor could be powered with dc 7v to 18v, i used my dslr 7.5v dc supply to power it without any problem, it also got a battery out to power my dslr with the same voltage as inputall in all, i’m very happy with this product, would recommend

Bright, responsive and Easy to use!
I’ve been wanting one of these for a while, it’s simply plug-and-play and allows you to get real time information from your camera, I do a lot of wildlife photography so I tend to use “live” mode on my camera while sitting inside a hide, with this attached I’m able to setup the camera and sit back and wait with all important information readily available to my on the heads-up-display. The touch screen is responsive and very bright making it both easy to operate and read even in low-light.The instructions were ok but not the most clear (not sure if that’s more them than me though haha!).It’s a great piece of kit and ideal for all type of photography where having the additional information or a larger screen are required, highly recommend product and something photographers of all levels would benefit from.

Excellent, portable 5" touchscreen Full HD monitor
While primarily intended as an external display for a video camera or a DSLR camera, this monitor by virtue of having a HDMI port can be used for multiple applications where you need a portable display. For example, I have also used this with a Raspberry Pi. However, where it comes into its own - and it's primary purpose - is for viewing photographic and video material. This monitor is a serious upgrade on a built-in screen on a camera or video camera. With a 5" screen, you can really see what you a recording/photographing and playing back. Furthermore, the monitor can also display histograms and other useful photographic and videographic information. For videographers, there is a zebra display. The features are too numerous to mention, so I would suggest refering to the specifications or the Fotga website where there is as good description of the unit's specifications. The unit is compact and I have successfully used it with both a HD (1920 x 1080p) video camera and a DSLR (as well as the abovementioned Raspberry Pi). I liked being able to control the unit by both the touchscreen and by the buttons. Do note that you do need to specifically enable the touchscreen input mode. When using this with a HD video camera, the results were excellent. The colours were vivid and the display sharp. Brightness could also be easily controlled. The included hood is also a bonus, enabling you to see the screen in bright sunlight. Hoods for DSLR cameras on their own are expensive investments. The included hood fits on by simply pushing it on and it works well. I did note that opening the hood does need a little bit of force to open it and that you need to pop a nail under the ledge to get it to open. Also, you can only remove the hood when it is opened. There was no mention of this in the instructions, so you may find this helpful. The hood also works well as protection for the LCD display.I had no issues with the display and I found it clear with adequate brightness at 1920 x 1080 p resolution. The colours displayed on the screen were excellent. This monitor is also capable of displaying 4K output at HD quality, though I did not try this.I also found the ability of this monitor to supply audio through a headphone jack useful too, especially with potentially an easy way to upgrade a lower grade camera that doesn't have audio outputs to monitor. The only downside to this camera is its support for camera batteries. While I believe it accepts Sony F-Series batteries as a default, the support for Canon LP-E6 batteries only comes via plates that are available at additional cost and supplied in packs of one rather than two. So budget at least another £55 if you want to add Canon battery capability. This camera is very versatile, accepting a wide range of input voltages from 7 to 18 V. I ran the monitor at 9 V.I tried powering the monitor from a powerbank with a USB-C output to barrel connection, but this was unsuccessful, presumably as the camera doesn't have the ability to work with USB PD, though it could be down to the cable that I used. I did not notice PD support listed explicitly in the instructions. This is a very compact monitor and I have been very impressed with its performance and quality. The supplied mounting adapters are also good too. I have no hesitation in recommending this monitor and I can confirm this is a very useful and valuable addition to my photo/audio kit.
