reading a good book is like you have a true friend every time with you, and about this book you will get a polite "mali" professional gardener with you, whenever you read it,content is good and important is its sequence, because that can help you to understand the basics of each and everything without confusing.. this book covers all the basics point about gardening , which applies on all the plants ,not like other books which are focused on perticuler type of plants , most of the solutions are practical and locally available, i liked it and recommend for begiiners, who have zero knowledge about plant and gardening. best of luck, i am missing colourfull pics, thats why i given 4 star..

This book has a wealth of information on terrace gardening. This book helps gardeners of all levels find ways to plant, whether a beginner with no knowledge or an enthusiastic person.Tarun takes readers through all the steps of evaluating the garden space, designing the space and waterproofing it. The chapter 5 on potting mix is a go-to guide for any gardener who seriously wants to reduce weight on their Terrace and want to grow healthy plants I am in awe with his secret formula of “soil less potting mix “He has even included something I’ve always wanted to try: propagating new plants through cutting .In each chapter of his book, he has offered tips and his learnings through his own mistakes that are as entertaining to read as they are loaded with practical gardening information. There are chapters which includes good gardening practices from building soil to pest management in indigenous ways. This book is full of lovely, photographs of his own garden though they are B&W but at the same time one can scan the QR code at the bottom of each image to see coloured version of the respective image .The book is divided into 14 chapters . My favorite chapter is on “Secrets to abundance in Garden” and how your thoughts play an important role in abundance of your garden. His book is brimming with ideas. If you have a will to plant a garden, he has a way to help you.

Review on Secrets of Terrace Gardenin by Tarun Upadhyay
It takes years to set a garden, to know the plants & their requirements. One tends to get confused on potting soil, how to fertilise, use of organic or inorganic. What to use for insecticides how to save the plants from their attack.. so many questions. What can be better than getting a ready made solutionThe book is a key to all garden solutions it is divided into different chapters along with the general requirements and description on how to use them. The author Tarun Upadhyay must have spent a lot of his time preparing this book keeping in mind what difficulties he faced when he started his terrace garden & how he worked on getting good results up to his satisfaction.Today his terrace garden is worth getting applauded as he has many fruit trees growing on the terrace in containers along with the floral beauties. He prepares his own soil, organic fertilizers, insecticides etc & has explained each and every step in the book. All what I can say is —-A complete knowledge in Gardening with Monthly & weekly routine!I would suggest it is a must have for garden lovers!

The soilless potting mix recipe came to rescue my balcony
A great book for people like me who used to love gardening but due to lack of systematic guidance I never dared to take it to the next level. I have a few plants on my balcony and I always had this concern about choosing the wrong cement made pots plus my plants also did not do so well. This book explained the difference between soil and potting mix in such a way that it became the first thing that I applied in my balcony garden.I replaced all the pots with plastic ones and used soil-less potting mix as guided in the book. Oh Boy! Even my children can move these pots now, the space looks so neat and I can see that my plants are doing way better than just regular garden soil. I will be creating my own terrace garden now using this book and I can't wait to get my hands dirty.I recommend this book with all my heart to all those who wish to make their dream come true of having a fabulous terrace garden.

A very practical guide for those who live in flats and high rise apartments.
Tarun has written an easy to follow, very comprehensive manual on how to grow fruit, vegetables and flowers in homes that do not have the luxury of tillable land. His tips on DIY gardening through pots and grow bags, are easy to understand and act upon. I only wish the photography was in colour! I appreciate his humour, linked to personal anecdotes. I would also recommend a blog page where we can share our experiences with him. For instance why only cow urine and not any other? I liquidise kitchen waste every 3 days and dry it before use. Plants love it. And, a bug spray of 1/3rd dish detergent; 1/3rd white vinegar; 1/3rd neem oil stored in a bottle and1 tablespoon used in a litre of water as a spray on plants, removes most bugs. I’m sure other hobby gardener’s have many secrets to share. Thanks Tarun for a good read.

consolidated, good practical info.
Nice book with a very pragmatic approach, covering all aspects of terrace gardening. I wished there were details on the growth and care of more commonly grown terrace plants that can be a starting place. I know India a vast country with varied microclimates, but I am sure there can be a list of several flowering, foliage, food plants, etc. that can be grown in most places of India barring extreme conditions. Still it is a rather useful book.

I needed help growing plants in a small space
Covid trapped many of us at home. I found that taking a break to walk outside between work calls helped me relax. But I soon became aware of my garden and how it needed color and variety. This book helped me learn how to build a small garden that had a better chance of thriving. Some plants didn’t survive the heat or drought in SoCal, but this book gave me tips and inspiration to choose and nurture plants that could survive around my terrace and small building. I have herbs, peppers and flowers. And I am inspired to expand my plant choices. I would recommend this book to learn the basics about how to create a healthy garden with limited space. And, how to do it in creative, low cost approaches. Having living, beautiful plants in your living spaces can bring great joy and ground you. Plus, it’s a chance to be outside and enjoy the spring and summer. After the next winter passes you’ll be surprised to see what plants will return thanks to the work you put in the year before. It’s a great guide for beginners and an inspiration to gardeners challenged by a lack of space. Good luck creating a garden of your dreams!
