This is the second one I got because my son and I enjoy using them for trail meals or just outdoor cooking. I have never had it side my side with a reai WWII one so I can't comment if it's a perfect replica but it does work as a good mess kit. The paint will burn off in high heat but I haven't had an issue with the paint on my second one only using an esbit stove.

Overall a good mess kit. Great for cooking on camping trips. Comes with 3 parts: a frying pan, a bowl, and a pot. All three fit together and are held together by the strap. Very convenient and pretty much does everything you need. Only taking off one star because the hinge that doubles as the handle seems to be very loose and just kind of swings there when the whole kit is closed. It should be snug and not swinging around. The strap really helps you avoid this situation, but if you didn't have the strap I can see this being an annoyance. All in all, a great M31 for practical purposes.

This canteen is so cool my son takes it to school in his backpack. It is a fantastic quality reproduction. Even the leather strap is top quality. I highly recommend the seller and product.

So this is a decent quality copy of a Post WW2 BW Mess kit — definitely not a WW2 WM M31 Mess kit. Several obvious markers: the type of handle, the handle attachment and mounts, the cup handle attachment and the canteen insert (WM version did not have one), the aluminum weight - it’s thinner, and finally the color.That being said it is just as utilitarian as the BW original. A perfect hold for a fire starter kit — no direct gas flame; a small wood fire or Bunsen alcohol burner is ok. This is a good individual mess kit for camping etc.3 stars - for claiming to be copy of the WM M31 kit but overall 4 - quality and cost are on point.

Very modular and looks sturdy, the construction is solid and the leather strap work amazingly. this will now be my primary camping cookware due to how functional and reliable it is.
