The stands are solid for what they are. I use them for my tube lights which have 1/4"-20 threading. My light fell over and snapped the metal off the stand. I only use the "baby pin" portion now on both for safety. 5 stars if the metal was stronger

I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the build on these. I expected a cheap light stand for this price. They are bolted and not riveted so you can tighten them up if they get a little loose. The plastic tighteners are beefy enough. You would have to try hard to break these. I use them with battery operated led lights for product shoots and they are plenty stable at their shortest height. If I want to go high I would use my larger stands. I got these because I needed to get low with some of my lighting to remove shadows. I even bought an extra set of these that I cut down to even get lower. At their widest, the legs are 17 inches. Plenty stable.

I had a very small light (VERY SMALL) on one of the stands. Someone knocked it over which normally wouldn't mean the end of a light stand but in this case, the part that screws into the light broke off when the stand fell over. Otherwise, the height and weight was perfect, but I won't be buying them again.
