Kava is native to the islands of the South Pacific and is a member of the pepper family. Kava has been used as a ceremonial beverage in the South Pacific for centuries. Historically, kava was used to help people fall asleep. It also had a topical use as a numbing agent. Kava is also known as Piper Mesthysticum. Tom Harrison, in his book "Savage Civilization" (1937) said that "You cannot hate with kava in you", and whether that is true or not, Pacific Islanders have for centuries used Kava to calm nerves, and help with relaxation. It can be highly sedative and has been known to numb certain body parts of the body. Typically safe in controlled amounts and it makes a fine evening drink with no documented or substantiated side effects. It is considered safe by the German E Commission.

Not a bad buy, but I have had stronger non- extract tbh.
Not bad but i have had better, for less $, so, ya keep looking in my opinion. However about 1 gram under my sublingual definitely has a very familiar kava effect.I would buy this again, but it came with a invoice that said it was double sealed for freshness, however, it is just in a mylar container. Not the biggest complaint but it is definitely an issue.Dissolved in some cold pressed coconut oil, it is effective, but I have had stronger that wasn't even allegedly 30% kavalactones. Just pure kava lateral roots from the right source is much more effective.I am however happy with this purchase, it reminded me of this subtle, or much more powerful botanical.If you found this helpful, Awesome! Oh my God . Add. A gallon of water and run it through a enema bag. my mind was on a rocket ship to the moon. It felt like I was covered in fire ants. I started throwing up , and thought I was throwing up snakes and and had parasies through out my body. I thought I was to die. Profuse Anal bleeding and stabbing horrible pain for a few weeks , but when the bloody vomit and diahea finally stop it's totally worth it. Good stuff!

This says to take 500 to 1000mgs per serving. I took what i assumed to be between that and nothing happened. I then decided to take approximately 4 grams or 4x the recommended dose with again nothing but a bad taste. I then poured the rest into whole milk and again felt nothing.

dont waste your money!
not 30% kavalactones at all, its very very weak. i had way more effects taking a crappy extract i bought at a local health food store. save your money and buy pure root and just make kava, way cheaper and way more effective. herbal island has good customer service but that doesnt count for much when their product is terrible!
