I bought one of these for myself and one for a gift. They work fine, but they do not come with instructions. There are more expensive items like this available that have instructions for how to use the different grid patterns. I did contact the company and they sent a prompt reply, but all they said was to put the pad in the sink, put some cleanser on the pad, add a little water, swirl the brush on the pad, and rinse. Apparently the pattern of the grid does not make any difference. I am happy with the purchase - it is cheaper than some of the other items of this type and is certainly cheaper than buying special brush cleaner!

I am one of those gross people who never cleans her makeup brushes so I'm hoping this will get me in the habit since it's so easy to use. The different sizes and patterns of the bumps makes it great for really getting all the makeup out of all your different brushes. I was looking at several of those small handheld types of silicone brush cleaners, but I feel like my hands would get tired with that. This seems a lot easier since you just lay the mat flat down in the sink. It's a good investment. The only thing is that I tend to be a little rough, so I there were some bristles/hairs on my brushes that got bent out of shape (also cause I had to use extra force since my brushes were pretty dirty...)

I have had the same high quality makeup brushes for years. The key to their longevity is regular cleaning and care in storage. I usually use my hands to wash, but thought this might give a little extra cleaning power. I really expected the grooves to be a little deeper in some places for the longer-hair brushes, but over all, I think the mat did a nice job-especially on the short-hair brushes. It is washable for decontamination and stores easily, and is of quality materials-I expect it will last for a long time.

I just got this and I love it! I can't believe how much time it saved me when cleaning my makeup brushes. I laid it in the sink, used some cleanser and quickly cleaned each brush. It didn't damage the bristles on my brushes and they came out like brand new. Then, I dried this product quickly and I was done. What a time-saver! There are several different types of grooves in this so you can clean several sizes of brushes. I would highly recommend this product.

This product has made cleaning my makeup brushes very easy. I wouldn't say it's made the experience any quicker, but it also hasn't made it any longer either. Before I was cleaning my brushes on my hand going back and forth, but with the ridges and bumbs it really gets in gets it clean. It makes the chore of washing makeup brushes a little less annoying but I don't know if its an essential.

I just started using the product.I just started cosmetology. Teacher actually liked it. First I wet the brush I put a little make up shampoo on the silcone and rub the brushes, silicone does not move around whilst cleaning and better still, we'll thought of the residue stays within the silicone so you don't get any makeup residue running over.Would of loved to have had instructions enclosed, as I have very expensive brushes and I want to make sure that I was doing it correctly.Otherwise great buy . Delivered as expected.

As many of the other reviews have stated, this cleaning mat requires less soap and helps remove that soap more thoroughly than plain hand washing. I will caution that you don't need to brush across the patterns too vigorously in order to clean them. The smaller patterns work very well for all of my brushes and the larger patterns did help remove all of the soap from my larger brushes.

Great for cleaning brushes BUT don't make the mistake I made and try to use it to clean your applicator sponges. I might have applied too much force, but it chewed up my sponge and I had to throw it away. HOWEVER it's great for the intended purpose of brush cleaning. I was amazed at how much gunk came out of my favorite shadow brush.
