Paintings in The National Gallery, London

I wanted to add this book to my collection of art books. Ideally I would visit The National Gallery in London in person, however until that lucky day arrives, I can look through this book and get a perspective on the art works I would be viewing at the gallery. The book arrived in a timely fashion, well packaged. I would order from this seller again.

I first saw this in Borders and it was way too expensive at the time but it was a book I watched for years to come down in price. I finally found a copy and it is the best art book I own. The paintings are beautifully printed and because of it's large size, you can clearly see the detail. When looking at an art book, I personally do not want pages and pages of written text regarding the art and this one does not have that. It explains briefly about each painting and gives all the info I need. To me that is more of the experience of visiting a museum, to not be interrupted from the art.

Really great book, substantial size with beautiful large photographs. Some light background on individual works, more information is given for broader eras.

A great book with large pictures from the National Gallery. It is organized by era. I wish that there was some scholarly information regarding each painting. But still, a nice book to have picked up.
