A little expensive but great
Had to get this because i needed a high refresh rate display and this is HDMI 2.0 not 1.4. If you don't need that this can be a little expensive

Here's a few things
Cable length: it's on a shorter side, but it cannot be made long so as to provide signal integrity. And that's why I cannot complain. The annoying part : is if you connect the dock and keep it aside the MacBook by keeping the DockTeck logo upwards the ports lies toward the laptop and this is very frustrating bcz i don't want to keep my dock upside down as it looks slightly off and unconventional.Heating: I usually keep connected a lan cable and a USB-hub which further connects my full RGB keyboard and mouse. When it's charging the heatup is very minimal, it's a little warm but trust me it's very less, i just mentioned just to share but it's not worth attention, it doesn't get hot at all ( keep in mind i don't have an air conditioner and the ambient temps in 22 summers you know well). Without charging : nothing at all, it remains at ambient temps.Display output: here's where things get interesting, while all these things connected and if I connect a 1080p 60fps monitor, it slowly starts to get a little bit warm but a interesting thing to notice is that it reaches the maximum temp ( equilibrium state and that too is not hot) in 20-30 min after that it stays at those temps, so it's getting heated up very slowly ( which is normal all USB-C hubs shows this behaviour so it's no different) but it's not alarming. The scary part : you have all heared that USB C hubs are killing MacBooks, if yes then it's true, actually the thing is that when you connect so many things to the hub it draws more power than the mac can handle, so it's better that you don't connect all the things at once, okay then what's the point if I cannot connect my devices? Yes then make sure that when you connect more devices ( specifically HDD and Monitor) while keyboard and mouse connected, make sure that you power the laptop through the USB hub, doing this makes sure that hub gets its power from the charger and not the laptop itself, THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT GUYS keep the hub connected to charger if you dont want to fry your laptop. And if you want that your laptop ( MacBook) doesn't gets charged beyond a certain percentage ( to increase battery life) because you are connected to power at all times, check out tool AIDente.

Decent quality, occasionally doesn’t detect the connected device
Product finish & build quality looks good. Warms up but I expected that. At times the wireless mouse doesn’t get detected. Have to remove the dongle and connect again. I have two laptops and the USB C ports are exclusively on right or left. When switching the laptop it’s very inconvenient to use.

Useful and affordable but heats like crazy
Useful to avoid connecting and disconnecting multiple ports on your laptop daily.Works flawlessly with my Lenovo Thinkpad T14 Gen 3.Only issue is it heats like crazy. However, it has not affected its performance in any way.

Not great
I only tested it with a micro SD card, but not even 10 minutes after first use, it started becoming extremely hot and I couldn’t even hold the hub for 5 seconds without getting burned. Other than that, if you’re willing to take the risk, data transfer and files works well with an iPad Air 5.

A year down the line......
The media could not be loaded. I bought this back in February 2022, and my main requirement was 4K 60 Hz Display port in the Hub. Basically I needed it to connect my monitor to my Surface Pro.It worked fine the first few months. But about May 2022 it started to flicker from time to time. It was very infrequent at the time and would happen once every 15-30 minutes. It would go off for 1 sec and then come back on again. Something I could live with and didn't really cause a lot of hindrance.I attributed it to some setting issue. I did some research on the internet and got a lot of advice regarding refresh rate etc. DockTeck website has no support on this either. Just answer to very basic FAQsThe frequency of the problem increased as time went by. A year later ....and now it happens every minute...is off for 2-3 seconds and sometimes 5-10 seconds. (Attached Video is from Dec 2022)Past 2 days it just went off and did not come back on the rest of the day.I have a feeling that one of the components has failed, probably start acting up once it heats up. Although the body is not very hot to the touch. (I have not yet pushed it to test for 4K)Bottom line: It is not usable anymore. Will need to buy another one and it will definitely not be DockTeck. I am inclined to buy something from a more reputable brand, even if it means shelling out extra money.Looks Great.Cord length would be better if longer but it is something they tell you upfront, so no complaints there.Works fine for the USB A port where my mouse is connected.Display port is a total failureWould not advise you to buy it.

Grazie! 🐱👤
