Finishing Well: The Adventure of Life Beyond Halftime

I accept the premise that the first semester of life is all about success (fast-track career, raising kids, getting kids through college, personal achievement, validation, and recognition, etc) and that the second semester should be all about significance (how we participate in the investments that God has made in us during our first semester). I recognize that my work is not my own but a gift from God to be used for His Kingdom, but the transition from Life I to Life II is not so easy. There are many hurdles, and many paths, and the Holy Spirit is sometimes silent. This book is best studied after a read (or two) of HALFTIME. If you are curious about multiplying your blessings and passing them on as part of your legacy, these two books will help to get your head pointed in the right direction. PS. I wish that it spent more time on the "You're old, you have great skills, but what do I do with you" reality.

It was well done, well researched and well written but all the stories were about senior executives in large operations who had good finances and strong connections. I was looking for a flavoring of some middle-level ordinary business people who had successful careers who could leverage their ordinary resources to have a large impact in their mid-size and small communities rather than large new projects. Good book - just didn't touch on my particular situation.

Highly recommend this book for all in mid-life and beyond. It is a great retirement gift, packed with wisdom and insights from many who lived their lives to the fullest. Don’t retire, refire and make a glorious impact in the world in the final quarter of your life. FINISHING WELL

Shared this book with a men's study group with 100% confirmation of the content being applicable to each of their lives...we all want to be remembered as living a life with significance. This is a "how-to" book with eternal positive consequences.

This book is inspirational, filled with ways a variety of industry leaders, men and women of influence became filled with the spirit of service to others once they had fulfilled their initial mission here on earth. Every man and woman has a calling on their life yet some never hear it or if having heard it, never answer that call. Finishing Well details how some have done it and made huge, positive impact on numerous lives.

Not every personal history will resonate with every reader equally, and the author felt the need here and there to make the affluent reader comfortable by name checking people and places they would identify with, but this is a valuable book. I really recommend it.

This is a good resource for those entering those middle to late years who want to push through to a strong finish that honors Christ. I also recommend this book for those considering an "encore" career.
