Unfortunately the fleece is bonded to the rod using an adhesive and as gun cleaner is a solvent designed to help break down lead and plastic deposits inside the barrel it is also very good at breaking down the adhesive holding the fleece on.The mop works fine if you clean it afterwards and make sure it is not left with any gun cleaning fluid on it or if just polishing the bore after scrubbing with a jag and patch.
