Insightful and intriguing
Bill Damon is both a learned professor and a gifted storyteller. Readers will learn a lot about him, his mysterious father and, if they’re paying attention, themselves.

Especially great for history buffs
For most of his life, Mr. Damon thought his father was lost in WW2. It wasn't until years later he found out the truth, and this book is the result of it. This was a compelling read full of emotions and personal family history. He does a life review with this book and i really enjoyed reading this book.I received a copy of the book via NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving an honest review

Fascinating read
From the first page, it hooks you. How weird to live your whole life without knowing your father was alive ... and living a different life, with a different family. Damon takes this thread and takes us on a journey that questions what are we all doing here anyway. Super interesting.

A delight and a comfort
This big-hearted book tells a remarkable story about a boy whose father allegedly went missing in World War II. Six decades later his son learns otherwise. His father had not only lived on. He had served as an American diplomat in Germany and Thailand, where skill as a golfer abetted his mission; and he had become the father of three daughters by his second wife, a French ballerina. As a clear-eyed expert in positive psychology and an 18-handicap golfer, William Damon faces a difficult reckoning with many surprising revelations. He shares such challenges as a personal quest that nonetheless raises recurrent questions of family dynamics. Damon thus turns the particulars of his experience and the insights of his profession into a good read and a helpful guide. Like many I’ve often wondered about my own family’s tangled webs and sustaining relations, as well as my performance on the links. This book came as a delight and a comfort.
