Simple Book With Simple Info=Perfect
Looking to dig our own well to save money. This book provided just the right info without all the fluff you get in some books. I like direct and to the point. This book delivers on what it says which I appreciate in a book. If you're interested in digging your own well then this is a good book to read to give you some instruction on one way to attempt this feat. By the way this only describes one way to dig and that is with a hand auger, which you can purchase through Amazon. If you are looking for other methods of getting to water then you will have to search elsewhere.

Digging a well
I read this book in about an hour. It is one of the best how to books I have read. Good illustrations, photographs, drawings, laid out in an easy to follow format. This book will help you decide if you should attempt to dig, and where. I found it very helpful. This book has provided me with the knowledge as to where I will dig (or drill) my well. Even if you already have a well and you want some info as to how it got there and how it works, read this book.

Simple, but Effective
As a few others have mentioned, this book IS simplistic - but - it is a good introduction to the subject of digging your own well. For those concerned that "Digging a well is much too complicated!" - this book will help dispel many of those concerns. Once a beginner reads through this book, they can decide if they want to read and do more, or give up on the project.I give this book 4 out of 5 stars because it does what it says. If you want a detailed tome covering all of the minutia of digging a well, this book is not for you. BUT - if you're looking for an *introduction* into the topic. One you can read in a short amount of time to "get your feet wet" so to speak, then this book is a good start.A good entry-level book. If you already know the basics, move on. If you're a complete greenhorn, this is a good, non-intimidating primer on the topic.

Not enough by itself.
It didn't provide as many details as I would have liked. But it has details on a couple of things that the more extensive one I bought didn't.

More than enough
More than enough information for a person to dig their first well and provide their homesteading family with water for household and gardening needs.

Good book, but only really related to waterholes and not wells
If you're planning on digging a waterhole then this is the book for you.I wanted to dig a well ( like a good old fashioned English brick well), and this book doesn't cover digging wells, so the title is a little misleading. But no worry - made some interesting reading anyhow! If you want to dig a waterhole / borehole then this book is extremely well written and detailed. Covers everything with regard to the whole procedure. It's an American book, so written for the American customer, although almost all of the information is relevant to the UK.
