EheimExternal Prefilter and Powerhead

My tank isn't deep enough to use both baskets, so I just use one and alternate the sponges when it needs cleaning. The plastic pipe didn't fit on my intake (all pond solutions) so i had to fashion an adapter, by wedging in a spare piece of plastic pipe from another filter. Obviously these are made to only fit Eheim cannisters.I have found this to be an effective pre filter, and it has noticeably made my water column cleaner, as well as preventing a build up in my canister filter.You do have to rinse out the sponge quite often - but this could be because I am only using one. However, this is no hardship, and I would rather do this than have murky water.I would recommend, and no doubt this would be even more effective in a deeper tank that allows the attachment of both baskets.

Used as a prefilter for my Eheim Eco Pro 300. It works well preventing larger muck from entering the main filter and reducing cleaning times. It's quite big so thankfully comes in two sections which clip/unclip together, I chose to use just the one section which is great because that leaves me with a replacement foam. Would suit a very large tank when both sections are used but maybe even just the one section would be too big for some smaller tanks. Overall it is a great quality item, well-made and of good design. I totally recommend it.

Used on aquael ultra max 1000 external filter. Fits perfectly on the standard 16mm internal diameter 22mm external diameter pipe. Very good quality product. Does not appear to restrict flow rate/output at all. Easy to dismantle clean reassemble. Keeps the shrimps safe from being sucked into filter.

Used these in two of my fish tanks,they do seem to collect a lot of waste,I think the item in general is a great piece of kit,

Bought this for my shallow 70 litres tank which is only occupied by very small fish. Had a DIY solution before and the occasional fatal accident asked for a better solution.This one works perfectly. I had to mount it horizontally due to the limited depth of the tank but it still works great. It's very easy to clean and really extends the cleaning cycle of the external canister filter. You simply detach it from your intake and take it apart. Make sure your are quick as a lot of sediment comes loose and starts drifting around the tank. Give the two sponges a good rinse and squeeze, and you're good to go.Well recommended.

Love this pre-filter. Helps increase time between main filter cleaning. I run an EHEIM 250 (2213) on a 55 Litre tank and now I clean the pre-filter once per week and the main filter once per month, though I'm quite fussy and you could probably get away with longer.Also has the option to use both sections or just one. It is a bit large for a small aquarium, but just hide it behind some plants/décor.

Brilliant little product.. have noticed a clearer looking tank and happier fish straight away. Looks a bit big and bulky in the tank compared to the standard cage you get with Eheim filters, but hide it behind a few plants and you’re good. Can’t fault it at all.Exception was the delivery driver who was rude, arrogant and had the nerve to shout at me (I mean actually shout) for not answering his phone call (which was an unknown 020 number - I associated it with a scam), then proceeded to call me again in front of me to prove to him that I got the call.

Fitted this item to my 25litre breeding tank instead of using DIY foam on the end of Eheim 2211 Classic intake pipe; so i could continue using my Eheim external filter with fry tank. Although I have swapped out the supplied sponge for some ultra fine grade to make certain no fry or newly hatched shrimp get sucked in; as the foam supplied is of the standard coarse variety found within most filters.As for items actual main task as a pre-filter it works well; collects a lot of muck and extends the main external cannister filter maintenance window.
