If you would not run a metal file over your nice sofa or carpet, then don't buy this. I could not tell from the photos that the end was made of rough metal. I noticed in some of the posted videos buyers that the fabric they were running this device over looked pilled and fuzzy- that is what it will do if you run it over a woven fabric sofa. It did not pick up anything from the 3 types of carpet I gently tried it on. I was not going to press any harder and I was definitely not going to try it on my sofa. The only fabric that this worked okay for was that furry kind covering cat trees. This hair remover REALLY does the trick at picking up hair. I've tried silicone and rubber "blades" that work but constantly have to be cleaned off during use. This one works much more efficiently, and the hair pulls right off it instantly. That said, the blade is not securely attached to the cheap plastic handle - like, at all. It just pulls straight out. This isn't a deal-breaker as I can just superglue it in, but it does speak to poor quality control.
