NESCO PIC-14 Induction Cooktop

I have a gas range and love it in the winter, but it heats the house too much in warmer weather. I decided to get a couple of induction burners. I bought a Max Burton 6200 and the Nesco PIC-14. My gas range has 2 power burners that boil water very quickly and require a constant watchful eye, and it has 3 regular burners that cook the way most people are used to cooking. The Max Burton 6200 is a good substitute for the power burners and the Nesco PIC-14 is a good substitute for the regular burners.The PROS of the Nesco:Lightweight and portableEasy to cleanSettings are clearly marked on the unitIt is very quiet, especially compared to the Max BurtonCooks similar to standard burnersA bargain at $58- $35 less than the Max BurtonIt does cook evenly when high quality induction cookware is used. LeCreuset tri-ply and LeCreuset anodized aluminum both perform well with no hot spots. However, I have Cooks Standard pans that are 5 ply clad that I thought were equal and found that there were hot spots that resulted in uneven cooking. This is not a problem with the burner, but a problem with the cookware.Cons:Doesn't look as good as Max BurtonDoesn't seem as well built as Max Burton (lighter, thinner, and lighter duty power cord)I am not deducting stars because the $35 price difference justifies the differences.I've used the Nesco more than the Max Burton because I actually prefer it in most applications. If you have high quality induction ready cookware, this is a perfect induction cooktop.

I am very impressed with the efficiency of this item. very quick to boil water. It is a little bigger than I expected but this just makes it more versatile so you can use bigger pots. I am also impressed with sturdiness it is well made. I bought it for my sons dorm room. Time will tell if it is quality & long lasting. This Nesco PIC-14induction cook-top is well made, has a spacious surface, is highly efficient, easy to use with intuitive controls, easy to clean, and works flawlessly. A clean efficient way to do one pan cooking tasks. After using this for a month, I would definitely consider replacing my ceramic five burner cook-top range with an induction cook-top range. Induction cooking is far superior to non-induction electric cooking. It currently sits on top of my ceramic top range and used almost exclusively instead of my traditional range.I highly recommend it.

Wonderful cooktop, It is easy to use on a table, I am in a wheelchair with limited hand mobility, so the feature of portability and no heating of the element and pot handles are very important.
