My dog has always been very picky about his water consumption so when I found this cute little fountain that he loved and worked with our kitchen decor, I was so excited. But, a little concerned about filter replacements.These are great! They easily pop inside the bottom of the bowl, and it also comes with the filter that eliminates debris from getting into the main water tube.The recommendation is to change both every 2 weeks which can become pricey. Honestly though that is not needed, but it does require diligence.First, I use filtered water which saves the filter and allows it to last longer.Second, we clean it daily. We do not fill the water level all the way so we have to refill it daily and at the same time we clean it.Third, we thoroughly clean both filters each time we refill the water. This helps eliminate any gross that has gotten on the bowl or inside.Once the main filter becomes dark, we replace it. This usually takes three weeks, and then we replace the debris filter monthly. This allows the filter pack to go a lot farther without costing too much and while still being safe for my dog.
