Digital Caliper, FstDgte 6" Calipers Measuring Tool - Electronic Micrometer Caliper with Large LCD Screen, Auto-off Feature, Inch and Millimeter Conversion

I am giving this 5 stars because it works very well for a $9 tool. I tested out the fractional scale on some misc drill bits and was able to verify their diameter. Assuming the drill bits were true to size, this caliper was occasionally off by 1/128 th, which is fine for my purposes. It arrived with a dead battery, but I have plenty of them around, so no big deal. I bought it to replace a Harbor Freight caliper that never worked all that well and cost at least twice as much. One of the best buys ever made on Amazon, cheap and effective.

I own about 5 digital and about 8 of the simple 'plastic' manual calipers.I have these stashed all over because I am terrible with metric dimensions and when a product shows it's metric dimensions, ONLY, usually because they are trying to hide the sizes of something, but when it isn't and it's a good deal I would like to know. Sure you could look up conversion tables, but it's so much easier to use the calipers, and far more accurate than the average ruler. Calipers (should, I believe) measure outside and inside dimensions and if you can get the ones that measure depth too...that is an excellent bonus, and this one has the depth measurement as well.Most people who read this, probably know what a caliper is and does, but if you have a relative like me...give one as a gift. The basic handyman will love this too.If this was a piece of garbage I would review it as so. It isn't.

As I have NEVER seen a digital micrometer made with the main beam being PLASTIC, I was VERY surprised to find this micrometer having it's main beam composed of just-that, plastic, when I received it. The device is pretty rigid, and seems to be generally solid for 'everyday use'...where precision isn't a 'life-or-death' matter...but when checked against my Mitutoyo (steel) calipers, I see that it has up to .0011 variance, depending on use, temperature, etc...that I can only write-off to the plastic beam on these. Again, great to quickly grab and use on some PVC pipe, or hex nut or whatever, but avoid for precision machine work...Then again, for $10, you can't go wrong for general use, either.

Did not work out of the box. I noticed it was mostly all plastic. Felt a bit fragile but I would not have cared so much if it actually worked.Did not turn on. Nothing wrong with the battery, just didn't power on at all.Not sure if the one I got was defective but I wasn't taking the chance on getting another.Had to get refunded and buy a different one made of all steel for a bit more.

So these calipers don't appear to be the most accurate but given the low price I'd say I got what I paid for. I'm not a fan that the calipers turn on at the slightest movement though and that the it arrived with a dead battery which required me to make an additional purchase for batteries to utilize the digital functionality.

If you're looking for "enough accuracy" without having to spend close to $300.00 for the professional tool, this little unit should do you just fine. As straightforward and easy to use as they come.

I'm amazed that this works and works reasonably well while being very inexpensive. It reads to tenths of mms. Not hundreds. You have to make sure to zero it before measuring. If it plastic, so the unit can flex and alter readings. But given what it is, it works remarkably well, seems fairly high quality for a plastic device.

Unfortunately the first unit did not work out of the box. Sent a message to the company with no response. Returned to Amazon and requested a replacement. Second unit also arrived dead. Figured okay what are the odds so I went out and bought a new battery, installed it and unit now functions properly. Not the best experience.

Sieht gut aus, ist aber in der Praxis nicht zu gebrauchen. Hat kein Feststellrad. Ist entgegen der Beschreibung billigster Kunststoff. Wiederholgenauigkeit nicht gegeben. Teilweise weicht die mechanische Anzeige erheblich von der Displayanzeige ab. Würde ich nicht wieder kaufen.

In der Übersicht und auch in der Artikelbeschreibung sind vier statt 1 Messschieber angepriesen. Ansonsten sind 8 Euro für ein Stück totes Plastik wesentlich zu viel.
