Hitorijime My Hero 1

Super Sweet and a Must Have for Fans of the Anime Series
I watched the anime first so I was beyond thrilled to see this available and preordered it as soon as it became available and I’m so glad I did since it was super cute and (almost) as good as the anime.*Minor Spoilers Ahead*First, this is a spinoff of the author’s other story about Asaya and Ken, Hitorijime My Boyfriend, so they’re already an established couple by the time the volume starts and none of the characters are really introduced like they are in the anime so it can be a bit confusing for those of us who haven’t read that volume. Also, there are several characters who appear in the anime who are missing (rainbow sweater dude from the gang, and Kouske’s friends from the bar - Asaya’s older sister and her husband, the detective dude) and who I really missed. The story is much faster paced than the anime and this one volume covers about 95% of the anime’s timeline. It actually makes more sense if you’ve already seen the anime since it explains things which are only barely glossed over in this volume for space sake. The story is still cute and Kouske and Masahiro are just as lovable and adorable as they are in the anime though. Ken is just as happy and sweet, and Asaya is his usual grumpy self. There’s a hilarious moment near the end of the second chapter where Masahiro walks in on an intimate moment between Ken and Asaya which definitely did not appear in the anime and which is completely awesome. There are some more intimate moments, but nothing is shown “on screen" so the volume does not arrive in plastic wrap.On a purely physical note, the volume is slightly larger than my other BL novels, and the cover is matte instead of glossy.Overall, Kouske and Masahiro are adorable whether it’s manga or anime and I highly, highly recommend this for anyone who watched and loved the anime, or anyone who likes BL in general. I am eagerly awaiting the next volume!

A through review, with minor spoilers. :)
So, for starters, Hitorijime my Hero is about the side characters from the one shot Manga "Hitorijime my Boyfriend", which if you've watched the show you'd see that that Manga was included, as well as Hitorijime my Hero, because of course the storyline adds up. The author had always planned to write a separate story for Masahiro and Kousuke. So, onto the actual review of volume 1... During the beginning I was very confused, (saying I watched the show then bought the Manga), bc for obvious reasons they put both Hitorijime my hero, and Hitorijime my Boyfriend in the same show. But nonetheless, this volume focuses on Masahiro's and Kousuke's relationship. Meaning Kousuke's failed plan to lead on Masahiro, all the way to Setagawa upgrading from his "underling" to, his "common-law wife" (as said in the Manga, haha!). But nonetheless, I personally enjoyed this volume, and plan to buy the next. If you liked the show, I'd definitely say you would like the Manga. Some people were saying that the story telling was a bit mumbled, but as I read it, I didn't understand why people were saying that, unless they watched the show first. The Manga itself, is easy to follow, but if you watched the show first, I would recommend you read Hitorijime my Boyfriend before reading Hitorijime my Hero!! :)

Amazing!
As a gay guy who loves yaoi and bara and dislikes the over feminized bottoms this is a whole new breath of fresh air! Great story cute scenes and overall amazing manga! The anime is also amazing! Would recommend this to gay guys or any girls out there who are into this!

Slow burn, leaves you wanting the next volume!
So good! The relationship development between the two boys in this series is not your typical BL set up. I appreciate the creativity of this story and you can really see and feel the emotions. Not too much smexy stuff, but a nice slow burn for the first volume.

Beginning is hard to follow- watch anime then read manga
Arrived in perfect condition. However the story is incredibly confusing at the start and I couldn’t follow the story. I found reviews online and I found out you actually have to watch the anime first for the story to make senseThis is a spin of series to the story hitorijime my boyfriend (the manga releases later in 2021)I would recommend watching the hitorijime my hero anime first then reading the manga for the story to make more sense
