Great for 2+ year olds
Update: 2 weeks after purchase: We found one triangular piece with no magnets in it (that may explain why we received 6 pieces of magnets mentioned in my original review below). I was able to pry open the triangle case to put in the missing magnets. I am now concerned about leaving the pieces around my 10 month old crawler. I took off one star for durability / quality assurance. I have never had to deal with quality issues with Magna tiles, so that leaves me wondering if I should have stuck with a tested brand. However, the kids continue to enjoy playing with the wheels and build several versions of cars / trucks. We bought this to add to a small magna tiles set - and I wish I had saved money and bought only the Magnetic Stick and Stack brand. They're significantly cheaper. And I feel that the quirks that others talk about provide challenges which are good for young ones to explore. Such as :- Some of the irregular shaped pieces have to be joined with a certain side else the pieces repel. After a few frustrating attempts, he's figured out that he can turn / flip them around till he finds ends that stick. At some point I'll tell him about north and south fields etc, but this is a good starting point I feel.- The wheels come with an iron steel rod, which could be unsafe given how uncoordinated my 2+ year old is - so I keep the wheels attached to both ends at all times. The wheels are hard for him to get off, so he takes my help for building the basic structure of the car, and then finds appropriate square / rectangle pieces to build around it. Ofcourse, he's incapable of independent play at this pint, so someone is always around to supervise him- The magnets are strong enough for most of the structures displayed. My son tires to pick them up and gets frustrated that they break apart. I feel this is part of the learning process too - he'll soon learn that he needs to keep the structures stable, or get used to rebuilding them.- I like that there are additional shapes, and window pieces - he seems to enjoy them too.- There are 8 wheels, but 6 axels (4 would have sufficed). Unsure why they provided two extra axels (incase we lose them?). We also got about 6 small pieces of magnets - the kind that are in the plastic pieces - again, unsure what these are for - I hope they do not expect the magnets to come out, because that would be a choking hazard for our little one.The only con may be that the axels could be dangerous - my son holds them in his hand, forgets he has them, pokes them around, and I'm afraid that if he sneezes he could hurt himself. I see that as my responsibility - so I may take them away if I feel he's able to take the wheels off when playing by himself. Given the age group that kids start enjoying this product (2+), maybe the company could consider redesigning the axels so that the ends are not exposed - or finding a way to secure the tires so that they cannot be pried apart without adult help. Overall, a great product at a better price point than the others out there.

Grandkids Love This
Got this for my 3 year old granddaughter, and she absolutely loves it - building different structures. And she’s not the only one in the family; her 5 year old sister and 7 year old brother play with it as well, and love building things and coming up with different scenarios. The magnetic fields are strong enough to hold the tiles together but not so strong that they can’t be pulled apart by small hands. What I particularly liked about this set was that it came with a couple of ‘little people’ and a large rectangular tile attached to 4 wheels. They make pretend play so much more fun - my grandkids can place someone in a house or castle that they build, and can build vehicles on the wheeled platform. The set also comes with some magnetic stickers. My grandchildren used the stop sign and traffic light on the ‘road’ with the ‘school bus’ they built transporting the 2 ‘little children’. This is a great toy to take on vacation to occupy kids if the weather is bad and they can’t do outdoor activities. The only thing additional needed is a plastic container to store all the tiles after the box is opened; got an inexpensive one at Walmart and added it along with the gift of the tiles.

Grandson can play for a long time building
Purchased for 2 (now 3) year old grandson. We can play together for an hour or more building then playing with small cars or people in whatever we build. He also gets creative and plays on his own building whaterver is on his mind.

Great Value & For Imaginative Play
These shape mags are fantastic! We bought a 30-piece starter pack of MagFormers for our 5 and 4 year olds for Christmas, and wanted to add more pieces so they could build more elaborate structures or build things at the same time (with the 30 piece you can really only build one thing at a time). But the price of MagFormers is ridiculous. My husband found this 60-piece Magnetic Stick N Stack set as an alternative and the kids love it! I actually like it better than the MagFormers for several reasons: 1) a 60-piece advanced set basically cost the same as a 30-piece MagFormers set (don't get me wrong, I like the MagFormers, just not their price); 2) there are a variety of pieces to initiate imaginative play, including windows, a door, a "wagon" on wheels, and 2 people; 3) All three of my kids (5 year girl, 4 year boy, 22 month girl) love playing with shape mags and for an extended period of time! Unfortunately, the Shape Mags are not interchangeable with the MagFormers (the Shape Mags are larger), so we'll just have to keep them as two separate sets.

We just received this today but won't gift it until the holidays... on that note, I will give my impression on the unopened toy:The boxed Stick n Stacks item is smaller than expected and heavy. I was hoping for a bigger more exciting box. Box is about 8" x 12" x 2" with the (child-hood association here) approx. weight of a '80s radio shack radio). Product packaging is not at all exciting; - and I actually consider it unattractive. In my opinion this 'bummer' package design is misleading for anyone receiving it who does not yet know what they have. As well, magnetic building toys are supposed to be a 'modern-day design' which is not communicated in what I see. I've purchased this set with plans to purchase magna-tiles as well and use them together... my work-around solution to lessen the monetary investment. Once opened and played with I will revisit these comments with additional notes.

Simple. Amazing!
Our kids can’t get enough of these little magnetic blocks. They build towers, cars, trucks, airplanes, animals and just about everything else they can imagine. We love how they are so simple, versatile, safe and durable. We bought our 1st set about 2 years ago and are up to 3 sets at this point. The magnets automatically pull the blocks into alignment. The kids play with them a lot and seem to love inventing new shapes. After a lot of use with our ambitious little architects, we had a couple blocks crack along the edges. But there is no question that they are super durable.
