Dave Scott's Triathlon Training

Dave Scott's Book has it ALL....
When I first decided to start training for the Half-Ironman, I browsed through Amazon and ordered about 10 different books. This is absolutely one of my favorites.Dave Scott has won 6 Ironman World Championships since winning one of the earliest Ironmans in 1980. Yet surprisingly, he is quite gracious about his wins."Triathlon Training" has individual chapters on swimming, cycling, and running techniques uniquely suited for the triathlete. It offers a year-round training program and workout schedules for 3, 4, 5, and 6-day training weeks with the most effective intensity, speed, and duration for each workout. It covers nutrition and specific tips to get ready mentally for the race, preparing for transitions, and pacing yourself throughout the race.Frankly, my goal is simply to finish the race. Regardless of my time, Dave Scott's techniques have already helped to prepare me for Hawaii. His attitude and motivation helps prepare you for Life 101 as well.

Solid Book even 20-25 years later
Dave Scott's training methods have probably evolved since this book was published. Technology sure has developed also. So, you won't get any advice on how to use your power meter on the bike or your GPS on the run.Despite that, these methods would work for anyone. You will get faster using Scott's methods. I am not sure the book can give you his mental toughness, but at least you can get an idea of what he is thinking.Of course, if you could stick to his diet, you would be pretty awesome also. The guy was and is a machine.

You know the old saying, "if you want to ...
You know the old saying, "if you want to learn something new read an old book" well that applies here. Some material is dated but the concepts, mental aspects of race approach, and layout of how-to is still spot on.

Maybe 20 years ago but the principles still apply today
There is a reason that Dave Scott won so many triathlons. Eating figs, shaking your arms out, when to train, how to train, this book is full of great tips that have allowed me to improve my training and my race results

Oldschool!
Mich fasziniert Dave Scott schon lange.
