I was wrong, This really works!
I bought the Leather Luster Kit after seeing several videos on YouTube. I bought a brand new pair of Bates DuraShock Boots. I've worn these boots on duty for 20+ years. I normally use regular polish and they look fine, but I really wanted a better shine and better protection of the leather. The Leather Luster kit was fairly inexpensive, had decent reviews, and seemed easy enough to apply. The process wasn't quite as easy as I thought, but I also wasn't doing it right. I ordered another kit and restarted the process. I am extremely pleased with the end result. I am not a pro by any stretch and I know I made some mistakes (I can see a few runs in the finish and I wasn't able to stay solely on the leather), but the boots look real nice and seem to be holding up to February in the Midwest. I was worried that new boots with this treatment would make the boots even more stiff and the Leather Luster could crack as I wore the boot and broke them in, but I have not experienced any such issue. My only suggestions would to purchase a pack of foam crafting brushes rather than use the brush included in the can of product and also get extra quad zero scour pads. having these items on hand made the process easy and you still aren't investing a fortune for giving your boots/duty gear a nice shine and good protection. I wlll continue to use Leather Luster on my duty boots for the rest of my career.

Want to make other officers jealous? Follow these steps!
Do you work in law enforcement and are too lazy to shine boots / duty gear just to have them get all mangled and scuffed up at the end of watch? Then look no further! I've used Leather Luster for the past 6 years on and off. Leather Luster is very easy to apply to duty gear and boots. After about 3 coats of Leather Luster, your boot toe's will look like little mirrors, without the painstaking hours of traditionally shinning them.Although, it's essential that you know how to polish boots the traditional way, and most police academy's don't let you cheat by using Leather Luster...Leather luster works very well on almost any type of boot (traditional leather & "pleather"). I've also used Leather Luster on my basket weave duty gear to give my gear that little shine that sets me apart from everyone else!NOTE: It's VERY important to allow proper natural drying before wearing anything you've applied Leather Luster too, or applying new coats of Leather Luster. Listed below is general how I apply Leather Luster.Day #1 - Apply the included polish remover to anything you wish to use Leather Luster on. The polish remover is similar to paint thinner, so it's important to let it dry completely. I suggest leaving your boots / gear out in the sun for a couple hours after cleaning them.Day#2 - Use the included piece of steel wool to buff any pre-existing scuffs out of the gear / boots. Then apply a VERY LIGHT coat of Leather Luster. A little goes a very long way. I usually use a paper towel to remove a lot of the Leather Luster from the included application stick before I put any on my gear. After a light coat is put on, allow the gear / boots to sit outside in the sun for the rest of the day.Day #3 - Apply another light coat of Leather Luster and allow the boots / gear to sit out in the sun for the remainder of the day.Day #4 - Apply another light coat of Leather Luster and allow the boots / gear to sit out in the sun for the remainder of the day.Day #5 - By day 5, you should be pretty happy with the results. If you want to apply more coats of Day #3 - Apply another light coat of Leather Luster and allow the boots / gear to sit out in the sun for the remainder of the day. If you want to apply more coats, basically continue the process until you're happy!

Best money I’ve ever spent in boot care
In my line of work, I have to keep clean, shiny boots or face disciplinary action. Looking at the reviews, I was a little sceptical... After using it, I’ve realized that the bad reviews come from 2 sources- people that did not take the time to properly strip their leather (or follow the simple instructions) and service personnel that are die hard “you can’t get a shine like that without spit shining them”. I’ve bought at least 10 pair of the same boots (Rocky Wellingtons) since I started my career. After leather luster, my boots breathe the same as always and are no hotter. I followed the directions and got amazing results. I stripped all of the surface dye and oils then used 150 grit sandpaper to open the pores of the leather- yeah, yeah, I ruined the leather... whatever. No I didn’t. I Continued stripping until the entire can of stripper was gone. The first coat did not dry in 4-6 hours like it was supposed to BUT, an hour of sitting in the sun and it was completely dry. Added two more coats which did dry quickly and my boots literally looked like they were patent leather. Applied it June 16th and now it’s October 6th- yes, the boots now have the normal wrinkles where my foot bends as I walk but NO- there are no cracks, no peeling, no problems. I’ve been through the woods, through creeks, through briars, kicked stairs, kicked the emergency brake and still have an amazing looking set of boots. I used to spend 30 minutes a night shining my boots and now I spend less than 5 minutes each day before work. I use an old tooth brush under the water faucet to clean the edges of the soles and seams, dry it with a paper towel then spray with Windex, wipe it with a microfiber then buff it with a dry microfiber. 4 months of wear and I still have the best looking boots among my co-workers. I’ll buy a new kit with every new pair of boots I buy from now on. Thanks for reading. God bless America, our troops and our first responders.
