Wellbro Martingale Collars for Dogs, Dog Training Collar, Reflective Pet Limited-Cinch Collar, with Quick-Release Buckle(14"-17" X 1", Black)

This collar is well made but I had no idea that the chain was going to be VERY Heavy! You will need a dog with a big strong neck to hold that collar! I returned it and bought a different one because of the weight. Maybe a pitbull or a boxer or some strong necked dog could wear this collar. The chain is really thick and heavy.

The collar has no stretch which is good for restraint; very sturdy; a little thicker than I wanted. It was purchased for my border collie/cattle dog mix. He goes from being soft & shy to having a very strong prey drive when small animals walk under his head. He has a history of slipping out of softer martingale collars. The larger chain and accompanying weight of nylon seemed very heavy, too much as a matter of fact. In reality it keeps the collar in place and doesn’t release the instant there is slack in the leash. It releases quickly, but doesn’t allow the dog to back out the split second there is slack. The plastic buckle allows the collar to be put on the dog without putting pressure on head and ears. I have been pleasantly surprised with how well this meets my needs. I have 4 herding dogs who train for obedience, Rally, agility, and herding competition and collars are mainly for emergency safety measures, nothing more.

I really like this collar. It’s easy to put on with the plastic buckle. The chain is a nice weight for my boy. I wanted a heavier weight chain. My guy is wire and no issues with the chain discoloring his hair. I only use this for our walks. It’s nevet kept on him. I like that it’s refelective. He’s an American Bulldog puppy that weighs 70 lbs. he is an easy walker, however if he gets excited, he’s very very strong. I have used a fabric martingale and a metal choke until my order arrived. The fabric didn’t hold up so well after 7 days from pulling on it. The choke concerned me that he was going to get hurt. This collar actually gives me a better response and I can pull him back easier when he gets excited.I just ordered a second one for my American Bulldog mix. She’s 60lbs, but super strong if she gets excited.My only complaint is that the little plastic loop that’s suppose to slide to the one side so the collar doesn’t loosen up, doesn’t stays in place. The collar needs to be tightened periodically. No big deal. The fabric is stiff. Maybe with wear it will soften up and the tan won’t slide so easily.***Edit**The collar I purchased for my smaller dog became too large with time. Customer service is awesome!!!! They are sending me a smaller one to try on her. ❤️

My dog is a rescue and is afraid of a LOT of things. To make it worse, he knows how to slip his collar. I had stopped taking him out much for fear he would slip his collar and get lost or ran over. Decided to try this collar and it’s worked so well. He tried to slip out of it, and is giving that tactic up, since it NEVER works! It is a must to have a clip on the collar so that you can open it all the way to put it on your dog, rather than trying to slip the collar over your dogs head. If you do that, then it will need to be adjusted after you have slipped it over your dogs head. This collar takes care of that.

I've actually this collar for well over a year now and its held up well. I will say that it was put aside for a bit because my dog (rottweiler) stopped responding to corrections with it as she came into herself. So I gave it to a friend with a german shepherd husky mix and he responds beautifully on it. We're in the process of teaching him good leash manners and it's still holding up beautifully after all this time. My only pet peeve is that I prefer collars with a metal buckle instead of plastic but that's a personal problem.

This collar has been amazing! My GSD who’s 2yrs old is easily excited and tries to pull and meet every dog walking by and I tried to do the small wrist snap & say ‘leave it’ how trainers suggest but she NEVER would and a lot of the time it would scare other owners cause they thought she was scary with her being a gsd.... this collar is AMAZING. I’ve barely had any trouble with her doing that since. An If were walking and she stops I keep walking and she’ll immediately catch up so the collar doesn’t tighten. I feel like a good dog mom cause I’m not having to pull at her constantly and her collar isn’t hurting her. It’s a win win. 💯 buy the collar. Super sturdy. Feels like good quality as well.

This collar is made well, of good quality; however the collar is just a bit too wide for my little 14-lb dog's neck. I love the gray color, the reflective stripe and the easy buckle mechanism (even though it is plastic, it seems very sturdy and of high quality). I will recommend this collar for anyone with a medium to large, or extra large dog. Seems to be designed and manufactured to last and seems to be very sturdy. My little dog's neck is just too scrawny for such a thick band. It will be great on a smaller beagle and possibly even on a larger terrier breed. My dog is part dachshund and part chihuahua and he cant seem to look straight down comfortably; too much collar taking up all the room from shoulder to chin.

I'm a full time independent pet sitter and dog walker. I'm always trying to find the perfect multi dog purpose collar and leash for my clients protection. This is 1st review ever since joining Amazon 4yrs ago. Also I would never write a review with testing a products longevity. But I just received and used these martindale collars and from the start felt the weight and sturdiness of these collars. They've met a 6 point wishlist. 1. Reflective 2. Heavy duty 3. martindale 4. Release clip 5. adjustable 6. Affordable. Definitely going to order more!!

Unfortunately we have found that when this collar gets wet it stains the fur around the neck of our retreiver and as he likes ponds, ditches and puddles we are unable to use it. Okay for a dark coated dog.
