Exactly what I expected
I only served in the US Army from 1984 to 1992, so I only have experience with the first and second generation of MREs. So that was with a limited and bland menu. You can tell that these were inspected in the military warehouses and replaced and/or repackaged as necessary. But everything is there except for a little filching or forgetting in the accessory packs. Don't blame that on the sellers, that's offical banding on the boxes of MREs.As far as how these tastes, it's not restaurant or home cooking. But it is a lot better than most of those freeze dried meals you see that are popular with hikers and campers. It takes a lot of work to get decent tasting long term rations, so you can see why MREs are so expensive. This is food for fighting in wars, so if you expect to eat these while in your hidey hole, dig it wide so it can account for how much weight you are going to gain. Yep, worse than whey powder. If you are not going to be working hard one MRE should be good for the whole day.I also see the fiber content has been increased since I served, so maybe constipation won't be an issue like it used to be.I got these for my go bags in case of wildfire, tornado or isolation by flooding. And foraging, hunting and fishing will take priority over these meals. The cases were undamaged on delivery and the contents were intact with no evidence of pest contamination. One thing I have to mention. The heaters do work but you might have to wait as long as a half hour. There is a reason for this, both chemistry and tactical considerations.

MREs Arrived with Correct Dates and Boxes Sealed
The two boxes (menus A and B) arrived with flaps sealed and bands around each box, as well as two other bands tying the two boxes together. Everything looks as expected with no evidence of tampering. I don't have any plans to open them now.The boxes were packed in March 2018 with a March 2021 inspection date. These were the most recent I could find on Amazon. Searches for "MRE 2022" turned up only these and older ones. Based on previous research, I consider properly stored MREs to last at least 5 years. So, these should last until 2023 or 2024.I had gotten a similar set in July 2016, packed in June 2014. Because of the projected 5-year usage date, I started eating them last fall. I still have 9-10 left, having eaten the most recent one about a week ago. They are more than adequate, although I don't consider them a gourmet meal. The taste is acceptable. So, it is quite possible that they can last longer than 5 years. These are now into their 6th year. I keep them stored where the temperature stays around 75 degrees. The only issue I have is the cost. The previous order of 2-year-old MREs was about $190. These 2-year-old MREs coast $300. I realize the current pandemic has driven up prices. So, these newer meals cost $12.50 each versus $7.92 for the older ones, both 2 years old when I bought them. Of course, I could have bought some older ones at a lower cost, but I wanted the longer shelf life.In an emergency, these 24 meals could get me by for 3+ weeks as my main meal.

I got these as part of my hurricane prep kit. They taste just like I remember. Not great but passable. Worth the investment.

I'd get more
I was excited to try these. Definitely something to have for an emergency and it comes with a good selection. Everything that comes in it is well packaged, no damage no tares. The dates on them gave me over 3yrs till expiration but u can keep these guys up to 7-8 years. But I know that varies from person to person. The only reason I gave 4 stars is because the first 2 i tried the heating did not work. But the next 2 I tried they were fine so I'm hoping the rest are Ok. I get it. U mass produce and things are bound to not work out. Price wise your paying about $16-$17 a bag (depending on current pricing) so not the worst. These days u pay more for a lunch out. But other than that it's worth it.

You get what you order
my original review was 1 star because it had not arrived. Box did come late, as described sealed and banded A and B boxes. Content was in excellent condition, nothing opened or tampered with. Only reason it has 4 stars for value is $125 a case is a bit expensive when I used to get them for $36 a case...

Wish we had these instead of the first versions of these back in the 80s.
Great for backbacking or to keep in a vehicle just in case. Are these gourmet meals, hell no but they will keep you alive and they really arent that bad. Make great items for earthquake or storm kits.

These are very fresh MREs and the TTI proves that they are also temp control. I am 100% satisfied with my order. Shipping was very fast. I have a temp control room which these will be stored in and kept fresh. Big shout out to Food Dude 82nd.
