very salty, but good for cooking
I found this in my local market, I bought it on a whim thinking I might try it... And as a disclaimer I have very little experience with Indian food and no idea how this is supposed to be used.Learn from my experience:1) Don't just pop one into your mouth, it's super salty. It's also a little hot, and even a tiny bit sweet. Unless you want a mouth full of flavored salt it's not a snack food.2) It makes a great seasoning for curry.I was making curry, and it needed some salt, I usually use pink salt or garlic-pepper salt, but since I had this ultra salty jar of Indian stuff in my fridge that I wasn't doing much with I decided to add a few berries (and the mango chutney) to the curry. Solved the issue of it being under salted in an interesting way.See the chutney dissolves in the water that you're cooking in, but the berry just kinda boils and turns soft, so when you're dishing up the curry you can dish up a berry (or half) to people who like it salty and they can crush it in their bowl adding even more salt and flavor to their curry while people who don't like it as salty can forgo the berry. So is it worth it? I bought a second bottle a week ago.
