These bad reviews are BS
Filter arrived in good time , but box was crushed on one side , at 49 bucks I was not happy . Filter was still usable , I chose not to return . Appears to be genuine Blue Air , but it seems to me that the density and quality isn't what it used to be . Replacing used smoke stop filter with the standard so I can't compare .. The machine is noticeably quieter now as air is able to pass through new filter more freely . NO smell whatsoever , none at all .* Update : Blueair took note of my comment , apologized for the damage and offered to make it right . Damage happened in transit , I am sure , which is out of Blueair's control , so that was pretty impressive . Also , they assured me that this is the same filter they used to make and that nothing has changed. I wanted to let shoppers know of Blueair's response and set the record straight about the filter. Please note , this is not the smoke stop/ dual protection filter . Don't expect it to help with smoke from forest fires , it won't . You'll need the other more expensive filter.Update , October 30 , 2021 . New filter , just arrived , put in the machine , there is no smell . These bad reviews are bunk .Have never had a problem with Blue Air filters or the machine for that matter . Been using both for years .* Wife has had a cough for months now , started running Blue Air machine 24 hours a day , has been a couple days , cough is all but gone now .

Works Great
This is very easy to install. After 6 months you can really see from the color of the filter how much stuff was cleaned from the air. It really makes a difference.

Expensive but worth every penny.
I have two different air filtration systems. One that cost $125 and the BlueAir 200 series which was more than twice the price at $330. The BlueAir though is a far better unit than the cheaper system (they are both HEPA). I cannot say enough about the quality of the unit let alone the filters. People have complained about the price of the filter but I say the quality provides value based on cost. These filters are also electrostaticaly charged and trap all sorts of particles. Those of you around my age (57) will remember back in school how we were shown how much tar one cigarette left when sucked through a plain napkin. I suppose it could depend on where you live but after 6 months when the timer went off to replace the filter, I compared the dirty filter with new and could not believe how much particulate matter was trapped in this filter. I'm so glad none of that ended up in my lungs. We have a lab and she sheds big time. The hair in our house has also reduced dramatically since we purchased this unit. We will be purchasing the larger unit for my basement office and still a third for our living room. The filter works great and I am so glad I found the BlueAir filtration system! Highly recommended.

Good filter, costs have changed
The filter is good, works well. Although just doubled in price from last year. I'll be moving on to another brand for replacement filters since I can't afford the extra cost.

Seems to be a genuine blue air filter/ works great.
I always try and be careful as there are many fake or knock offs when it comes to filters. This seems to be an original replacement filter. No funny smells, fits perfectly, and has the built in gasket to seal in tight. Would buy again. Keeps my blue air chugging along and cleaner air.

The cost is high but if you need it you need it
I looked all over for the generic version which I used to buy but I could not find the correct size. Manufacturers are known to do this, custom size so only they sell it. Suck it up or contact your local filter supply house and probably pay the same or more for a custom HEPA filter. Fits snuggly as it should. At first your going to think it's too big but its fine.

Amazing
Once you use this air filter and see how much disgusting black stuff it pulls out of the air, you'll never want to be without them

Collected 2.5 oz of filth from the air
I foolishly put off replacing my filter for about 1 year. I figured I could get away with it because I keep a very clean house. I'm allergic and my kid has asthma, so I'm always dusting with Swiffers, microfiber mopping, etc. Nobody smokes around here; there are no pets; the windows are closed 9 months out of the year and the rest of the time we use window air conditioning units. Nevertheless, when I went to change my 200PF HEPA filter, I noticed that while the new one was translucent and white, the old one was dark grey and opaque. Curious, I weighed the filters on my postage scale. The old one weighed a full 2-1/2 oz more than the new one. I know it wasn't moisture, because my air is bone dry. Nope -- the filter was saturated with 2.5 ounces of particulate gunk that would've been destined for my family's lungs.Suddenly it doesn't seem like such an indulgence to replace the filter every six months.
