Durable and effective
I've been using this light for almost 8 years now, and it's still going strong! It's compact, visually appealing, easy to use, and it really works for mood-boosting when it's gloomy out. (If it were a bit cheaper, I'd probably get one for every room of my house! Luckily, one's enough.)

This little guy simply works, and works well!
I'm a clinical psychologist, self-diagnosed with Seasonal Affective Disorder - the Winter Blues. In my hometown, not only do we have less light in the winter but we have A LOT of overcast days in the winter. Every year it kicks me in the butt - can't think, can't get motivated, can't sustain momentum, my productivity drops, I get moody and irritable, and I want to snack (and so put on weight). I've known about light therapy for some time, and finally (at my wife's urging) bought this unit. Within one day, I was feeling better, by the second day, I felt like my normal self. SAD is a real, scientifically documented condition that affects about 10% of the population, and it's biological. The light therapy is not simply a placebo effect - it changes how your brain functions and the kinds of hormones that are being released. The Circadian Optics Light works, and works well, because it is so bright - advertised at 10,000 lux - the recommended brightness for SAD. Most of the research on light therapy has been conducted with larger, fluorescent lights, and frankly I don't like the industrial look of them, the intrusive size, and i really don't like fluorescent light. This LED unit works just fine. I place about an arms length away off to one side, and then do whatever next to it (usually reading my Kindle) for about 45 minutes in the early morning. If i use it for less time, if find myself craving more light. I then do a booster session of 30 minutes or so in the afternoon (I'm using it as i write this) and my mood and clarity of thought return. This unit is bright enough, not too big in size, is inexpensive, and because it's LED it uses very little electricity. It works, and it works well. It is well constructed, and is small and light enough that you could pack it in a suitcase for travel. If you've been wanting to try light therapy, I can recommend this unit as being very cost effective. It works so well I bought a second unit to use at the office.

Good light
This light is a very good value for the money. It is definitely bright. It looks nice and is pretty big so you don’t have to have it that close to your face. It does not have a timer on it, but that is OK. I can easily set one on my computer. The cord length is very good. I think that there are better options out there on the market, but this is a very good one for the money.

Works Wonders
I've had this light for a couple of years now. I notice a big difference when I use it on cloudy days. I live in an area with a LOT of cloudy days. Great value, very bright.

SAD, GDD, Slaves to Academia...your prayers have been answered
As someone in psychology and behavioral health, you would have thought that I would have endorsed this product based on the research that supports its purpose. However, I didn’t believe it was as incredible as it is until I bought this over the summer in preparation for wintertime SAD. I have never been more satisfied with or grateful for a product in my entire life.I am a graduate student and spend most of my time on a computer, indoors, or in “sterile” or artificial spaces. I don’t get to be social often and I thrive in sunny weather. Unfortunately, for me, this also means that when I have to be inside on a nice day, I have terrible FOMO (fear of missing out...on the nice weather, mostly). I was spending at least 3-4 days of my week in direct or partial sunlight, over this past summer. I still felt drained from having to live in a city and the hours that I would be indoors. Someone told me to use one of these and that it would feel like having a caffeine rush. While I never experienced the “rush”, I definitely experienced a sense of normalcy and improved mood, which allows me to function for the first time in months. Of course, everyone’s brain chemistry differs and responds different to various methods of serotonin stimulation. As someone who has been medicated for depression and anxiety, I would first suggest using this in your home, office, and even your car (if possible). It works well on its own but taking a multivitamin or vitamin D supplement, in addition to it really helps! If you live in a dark building, region, or find yourself curled up looking for an answer to your SAD or even GDD, give it a shot. I’m not guaranteeing it will work for you but it’s definitely not a joke.
