Works well

This metal detector is easy to set up and get going. The settings are pretty easy to figure out as far as how to change them, but it does take a little time to figure out what seems to work the best for your location/situation. I haven't had a chance to get out and use this item as much as I hope to just yet, but I think I'm getting a decent feel for it. I've read other reviews that complain about how it beeps EVERYWHERE. I had the same experience at first. I own 10 acres that used to be occupied by a logging town that pretty much everyone left at least 100 years ago. I can't dig a hole without finding foundations, nails, glass, ashes, wire, etc. While digging a hole for a fence post, I even found a pool table slate from the old hotel/saloon. My point is, I can't tell if it's malfunctioning when it beeps constantly or if it's constantly picking up a signal. So, I reduced the sensitivity and got more selective on the metal I was searching for. There were still false signals here and there, but I did end up finding a small container that appears to be made from zinc. Just make sure you experiment with it a bit before you get too frustrated and give up. Like I said, I haven't used it a lot yet, so I'll update later if I have anything else worth adding.

I'm not sure where everybody's getting the accuracy from. This thing can't tell the difference between a piece of gold or a piece of aluminum. In open air, with a 1 gram bar of gold, it only works 4 inches away. I'm not sure if the ground extends its range but it's not close to a foot. I've taken it out to city parks and it will find every piece of trash regardless of the discrimination settings. Bottle caps show as everything. Every sweet, they are a different metal

I bought this to help my dad find a lost wedding ring. And though it didn't find what we were looking for (though we weren't 100% sure where to look) we did find lots of other interesting things. I think this would be cool to use on a beach or other area and see what turns up. It was very lightweight and easy to use with an easy to read screen. Maybe one day I'll take it to search for some buried treasure!

A few aspects You need to know before You consider buying This detectorMy storyi received my product and tried it at home to check how deep it can detect and how well the discrimination works. After the first test i didnt get the results i was expecting and looking for, althought i know is not a well known brand like garret or minelab, for the price range and 13 inch coil it just do not has a good performance, i could also compare it with a lower cost detector, getting better results with my DR OTEK, that is half the price.I decided to give it a second chance and tested it in field, but even without the interference of electronic devices, it wont gave a good performance.In field it was hard to use because of weight and the fact that is no very ergonomic, so i finish my travel tired specially on my forearm,PinPoint was useless because it starts beep around all the coil and not the center wich is suposed to do, lucky i got my hand pinpointer with me,To finish, customer service experience wasnt good at all, they Will give You excuses and Will ask You for as many evidence as you imagine for a refund or change.Please think twice before Your purchase
